CitiChoir Introduce International Week

A huge thank you to The CitiChoir who sang with the school choir as part of a special assembly this morning. The whole school had the privilege of listening to 4 songs from around the world and everyone joined together for a rousing rendition of Siyahamba. What a fantastic start to International Week!

Please comment on the following:

How did it feel to listen to the music?

If you sang in the choir, please tell us about your experience.

  • The songs made me inspired to sing more because the singing was so beautiful, singing is very different from other things as you can sing by yourself, or in a group. Whereas if you wanted to play a football match, you have to have lots of players. My favourite song was the lullaby because it was so different to common lullabys, because it was loud, and the type of song you wanted to sing along to it.

  • I really enjoyed the singing today, because it made me feel really joyful, like I wanted to sing too! My favourite song was the lullaby- it was really calm and peaceful and the way both choirs harmonised and sang in a round was very tranquil. I thought (and I think most people thought) that the way both choirs collaborated was creative and exciting.

  • Working with CitiChoir myself, I thought I knew what to expect; but it seems I was wrong- the performance blew me away. The effect that the singing had was wonderful, and the songs sang in different languages made me think about different countries. Besides, it is International Week. Well done our own choir too: you could still clearly be heard, even when a lot of adults with stronger voices were singing on top.

Well done and keep doing well!

  • I thought I was going to make a mistake in one of the songs because it was really hard but I really found it FUN singing the harmony and songs.

  • The choir sung so well in unison and performed just as well on their own. The citi bank choir had strong energetic singers, and, to my suprise, so did our choir, all choristers worked hard and sang together to produce a beautiful sound, it was a pleasure to hear their singing and I would like the two to collaborate again. Keep on doing well and singing as sweetly.

  • The Citi Bank Choir sang like their lives depended on it! They were very energetic and jubilant in their singing and throughout the four songs, they kept on smiling. If must have been a lot of fun for The Cathedral School Choir to sing with such great vocalists. Someday I’ll be on singing with them! Someday…

  • This was such a brilliant way to start the week! We loved singing with the school choir, and all the hard work was rewarded with a great performance. We hope everyone in the school enjoyed it, and if you are not in the choir at the moment, why not give it a try? We hope we can sing with you in the future.

I also think that the songs were lovely and the harmonies they did were excellent and each song made you feel something different each time . My favourite song they sang was Joyful Joyful as you can tell by the title it made me joyful. Thumbs up to both choirs – you did very well!

  • I enjoyed the performance very much. Though, they could of done some Latin. And also, they should go on Britain’s Got Talent. I think they’ll go to the quarter-Finals at least!

  • I thought that the performance was very unique; I was very surprised that they were that good. I think they should go around the world and show the songs to disadvantaged children and teach them how to sing.

  • Last year I worked with Citi Choir, it was great to see them again and to hear how lovely they all sing. Also, when the were singing, it made me feel like singing alongside them. Well done Citi Choir, you all sang brilliantly.

  • I am still stunned. The music was amazing – and the singing was prodigious. Honestly I did not know that voices could make such a vibrant, beautiful, majestic sound. It was such a great experience and I am very privileged to have witnessed the miracle of all those voices coming together to make such a harmonious song.

Thank you so much for coming to our school.

  • Listening to the music was absolutely amazing. The citi choir itself was lovely;seeing they were singing with the school choir was just delightful. I don’t even know how to describe it. There are too many words. It was flawless, soothing and relaxing. Wow, I wish I could be as amazing as the citi choir and the school choir together.

  • This is the second year I’ve sung with the Citi and Cathedral School choirs and it was just as much fun as in 2015! Maybe the songs were less dramatic than the ones from ‘Matilda’ but we (Citi) really enjoyed the variety of English, Estonian and African lyrics which kicked off the school’s International Week. I certainly travelled back to work on Monday morning with a big smile on my face!

  • Hi there, I was one of the singers from the Citi choir and we absolutely loved singing for you and reading what you had to say the memory of our time together with your choir and our performance together all the more special for us.

It was a real privilege to sing both with you and for you and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We do hope that we get more chances to sing together in future! Keep singing!
