Friendship

This morning Father Michael led our collective worship. He helped us think  about our school motto ‘life in all its fullness’ in terms of friendship. He told us the story of how Jesus healed the paralysed man. The man was unable to move but his friends helped him to see Jesus. Father Michael also shared an acrostic poem.

What does friendship mean to you?

Please write your own Friendship Acrostic. Mrs Scott will share some of the poems during collective worship, they will be posted on this blog and put in a book to be kept in the entrance hall.

Thank you for taking the time to write a poem.

School Open

As a result of yesterday’s tragic events, I have spoken to the police and have been reassured that it is safe to open school tomorrow.

We understand that children may feel worried or upset and we will do everything we can to support them. A member of the clergy from the cathedral will visit the school and staff will be on hand to speak to children who may need to talk about their anxieties.

If you have an urgent concern, and you wish to communicate with me before Monday morning, please leave your contact details on the Contact Us page and I’ll get back to you as soon as the school receives your message. We will monitor this throughout the day.

International Evening

Huge congratulations to all of the children, parents and staff who contributed to Cathedral Primary School’s International Evening on Thursday 25th May. The evening was an opportunity to celebrate our wonderfully diverse school community through song, dance, karate, music and spoken word.

International Evening is also an opportunity to get together as a school community and taste a variety of foods from around the world, many thanks to all of the parents and staff who provided the food for the interval.

The staff at Cathedral School are incredibly proud of the children and believe that International Evening is an important way to showcase their talent and interests and celebrate our own diverse community.

We would once again like to thank all the performers, parents and staff who contributed to a superb evening.

If you would like to see what individual classes have been learning during International Week please see individual class blogs.

CitiChoir Open International Week

Many thanks to our friends at Citichoir who sang with the Cathedral School Choir during collective worship on Monday. It was such a wonderful way to start the International Week festivities . The whole school listened to captivating and joyful versions of Stand by Me, Jabula Jesu, Swing Low Medley and a world premier of a new arrangement of We are the World .

What a treat! Thank you to CitiChoir, musicians Phil and Alex, the Cathedral School Choir and Miss Dace for a super start to the week.

Book Day 2017

Book Day 2017

Today children and staff at Cathedral School dressed up as their favourite book characters. As ever, the effort and ingenuity that went into the costumes was fantastic.

One of the best things about World Book Day was discovering new authors and remembering forgotten favourites. A very exciting part of the day was the ‘Choose a story session’. Children were able to choose a story from a selection before finding out which teacher would read it to them.

Which story did you choose to listen to and why?
