Class 1 have had a great week learning all about Zimbabwe! We have listened to some Zimbabwean music, explored the main attractions of the country, spoken some of the language and found out some interesting facts! It has been great to see children so excited to learn about another culture. We have had a busy week fitting Zimbabwe into our learning in numeracy, literacy, geography and art! Take a look at some of our pictures. Enjoy!

In maths, we practiced our measuring skills by drawing the Zimbabwean flag at different sizes. We made sure we kept our rulers nice and still and measured our flags accurately. The Zimbabwean flag has a lot of stripes so it was a good thing we had rulers to help us draw our lines!

In literacy, we explored Zimbabwe with our comprehension skills. We carefully read a piece of text all about Zimbabwe and then had to answer questions on the text. We found out some interesting information:

Did you know there are up to 16 different languages spoken in Zimbabwe?

Did you know that Robert Mugabe has been the president of Zimbabwe since 1987?!

The capital of Zimbabwe is a city called Harare.

In literacy we also made some holiday brochures, writing about all the exciting things to see and do in Zimbabwe!

We have been busy in art making our own Zimbabwe flag. Take a look at some of our pictures below along with our pictures from International Day where class 1 dressed up in some lovely outfits!
