Class 1 went to visit Bevis Marks Synagogue last week to support our learning on Judaism this half term in RE . Children learnt many facts about Judaism on this trip, including how the Torah was written and how it is read, where men and women sit in the Synagogue and important Jewish festivals such as Hanukkah, Shabbat and Purim. We had a lovely walk over London Bridge to the Synagogue, where we were able to see all the different forms of transport in London! Class 1 were also lucky enough to get some photographs outside of the Gherkin before we went in, take a look at our photos below!

Class 1 have show and tell every Friday afternoon. This session is for all children, if they wish to bring in an item to show to the rest of their class. This is a good opportunity for less confident children to practice speaking in front of their peers! Children really enjoy these sessions, however it is not compulsory to bring something in each week.

Welcome to our class blog! We will be posting lots of regular pictures and information on here to keep everyone up to date with class 1.

Children have settled in fast after the summer holidays and are adjusting well to the structure of learning in class 1. We have been doing lots of practical work to ease children in to writing in their workbooks.

Here is some information for class 1 parents:

• PE will be on Wednesday afternoons
• All school items need to have your child’s name labelled on them clearly please (including water bottles and PE kits)
• Show and tell in class 1 will be on Friday afternoons- please encourage your child to not just bring in toys from home
• Your child’s reading books will be changed weekly, please read with them at least 3 times a week
