Spring 1, Week 1 – Happy New Year!

Star of the Week: Jacob and Daniela

This week in PE we started to practise our basketball skills. We had a go at bouncing the ball on the spot, dribbling the ball and shooting the ball into the hoop.

From next week, we will be starting a weekly spelling test. Children will receive their spelling list of 5 words on a Monday and the spelling test will take place on the following Monday. More information on this will be sent out alongside their first spelling list on Monday.

Autumn 2, Week 7

Stars of the Week: Aarav and Cameron J

This we have been writing stories called A Christmas Adventure. Well done to Aarav and Cameron who came up with excellent imaginative ideas for their stories and worked hard to write their ideas down using sentences. Watch out for the final drafts to be posted here…

Autumn 2, Week 5

Stars of the Week: All of Class 1

Well done to all of Class 1 for your beautiful singing at the Cathedral! You used your lovely singing voices and remembered all the actions.

Next week we will be finishing our learning on the Nativity story and thinking about the roles of each special person in the story.

Autumn 2, Week 5

Stars of the Week: Astrid and Jacob

Last week, we went exploring to look for signs of autumn. We saw lots of brown, orange and red leaves on the trees and the floor. We also saw lots of bare trees, fungi and berries.
We collected autumn leaves that had fallen and sketched them back in class. Here’s some of our sketches:

Next week we will be starting a new class text as we get into the Christmas spirit called William’s Winter Wish.

Autumn 2, Week 4

Star of the Week: Belen and Albert

In English, we have been reading the book A Bear Called Paddington. Paddington loves eating marmalade sandwiches so we had a go at making our own! First, we thought about what ingredients and equipment we would need. Next, we wrote a list of instructions to follow to make our sandwiches. Then we carefully prepared our sandwiches before, of course, getting to eat them!

Autumn 2, Week 3

Stars of the Week: All of Class 1

A huge well done to all of Class 1 for your amazing performance on Tuesday. You said your lines clearly and confidently and did the whole performance with big smiles on your faces. Well done Class 1, we are all really proud of you!

Autumn 2, Week 2

Stars of the Week: Astrid and Ethan

This week in Science we have been measuring autumn weather. We made rain gauges to measure the amount of rainfall and weather vanes to measure the direction of the wind.

Next week in science, we will be observing changes that take place in nature during the winter with an autumn walk around school and to Redcross Gardens.

Autumn 2, Week 1 – A Bear Called Paddington

Stars of the Week: Javon and Krislyn

This week we have started reading our new class text, A Bear Called Paddington. We began by focusing on the characters Mr Brown, Mrs Brown and Paddington, using adjectives to describe what they look like and what kind of character they are. We then wrote a character profile all about Paddington Bear. The children noticed that Paddington is quite a clumsy bear who loves eating marmalade!

Next week we will be writing a letter from Paddington to his Aunty Lucy back home in Peru about his adventures so far, as well as moving on to 2d and 3d shapes in maths.

Collective Worship Song

As you know, our collective worship is taking place on Tuesday 12th November. Some of the children have asked for the words so they can practise at home so here they are below!

(In the tune of ‘If you’re happy and you know it.”)

If you know all the seasons clap your hands,
If you know all the seasons clap your hands,
If you know all the seasons
You’ve got four terrific reasons
So shout out about the seasons, clap your hands

If you really love winter go like this “BRRR”
If you really love the winter go like this “BRRR”
Because winter is the season
When your nose is always freezing
If you really love winter go like this “BRRR”

In the spring you run and play and shout “HURRAY”
In the spring you run and play and shout “HURRAY”
In the spring the grass is growing
And a gentle breeze is blowing
In the spring you run and play and shout “HURRAY”

If you really love the summer grab your cap
If you really love the summer grab your cap
In the summer you can play
And have fun outside all day
If you really love the summer grab your cap

If you really love the autumn rake some leaves
If you really love the autumn rake some leaves
When it’s starting to get cold
And the leaves turn red and gold
If you really love the autumn rake some leaves
