Autumn 1, Week 7 – DT Week

Stars of the Week: Eleni and Joshua

The theme for last week’s DT week was moving animals and Class 1 made dinosaurs! First we designed our dinosaurs, thinking about what colour it would be and what materials we would need to make it. Next we painted them, cut them out and then stuck them together to make our moving dinosaurs! Finally, we reflected on our work, what went well and what we would change next time.
We hope you enjoyed looking at our dinosaurs, as well as all the other wonderful creations, at the DT exhibition for parents evening.

Autumn 1, Week 6

Stars of the Week: Rosa and Gabriel

Last week we were thinking about caring friendships in Year 1. We read the book Sharing a Shell and thought about the actions that show that we are caring friends. We used this idea to make a display board for our school hall with Year 2 and 3. Our job was to decorate bubbles and write words and phrases to describe caring friendships such as ‘team work’ and ‘share’.
Here’s a picture of our finished display work:

Autumn 1, Week 3

Stars of the Week: Gabrielle and Sonny

This week, we have been exploring our class text The Velveteen Rabbit through drama. We looked at the part of the story where the Velveteen Rabbit sits in the cupboard with the other toys and chats to the Old Skin Horse about becoming real. We freeze framed different parts of the story, thinking about how we can show the character’s feelings.

Autumn 1, Week 2

Stars of the Week: Hudson and Marcia

This week we have been looking at our Class Charter which we wrote together. On the charter, we wrote our ideas for rules and good behaviours to make Class 1 a lovely place to be!
Here are some of our ideas:
– Always try your best
– Keep the classroom tidy
-Be kind to others
