Autumn 1 Week 2

Stars of the Week: Lenni and Theo

Class 1 have had a busy week doing lots of work! Children have started new units this week, including Toys from the Past in History and Animals including Humans in Science. In our maths lessons this week, Class 1 have been looking at sorting numbers and objects in different ways, such as above/below 10, or objects by the same colour/size/shape. Take a look at some of our pictures below, well done on a great week Class 1.

Week One- Welcome Back!

Stars of the week: All of Class 1

Welcome parents and carers to Class 1’s blog! I will be updating the blog weekly to keep you up  to date with your child’s learning at school and any important notices that you need to know.

Class 1 have had a brilliant first week in Key Stage One and they have done so well transitioning  from Early Years. This week, we have started our new class text, The Tiger Who Came To Tea and in English children have completed some writing on this text. We have also been busy completing our class charter display which is up in our classroom!

This half term, PE will be on Wednesdays.

Sports Week!

Stars of the week: Mariama and Marwah

This week Class 1 have been busy getting ready for their first sports day! Children have enjoyed the ‘World Cup’ theme this week and have produced some excellent work, especially in maths where they have produced tally charts and bar graphs on different World Cup data. Children also wrote some fantastic letters to FIFA this week, asking for the World Cup to be held in London in 2022! Take a look at some of our photos from sports week.

Computing

This half term in computing children have started programming. Class 1 have been completing Code 1, called ‘We are angry birds’ and have been programming with visual code blocks.  Take a look at some of the things we have been doing in our computing lessons.

Summer 2 Week 4- Measurement

Stars of the Week: Astrid and Luca

This week Class 1 did some weighing during maths and explored the weight of a kilogram. Children used different classroom objects and put them onto their scales, then recorded how heavy or light they were. We found out that 3 school cartons of milk weigh around a kilogram!

Summer 2 Week 2- Noah’s Ark

Stars of the Week: Daniel and Maidie

Class 1 are learning about Noah’s Ark this half term in RE. This week, children thought about how hard it must have been for Noah and his family to build such a huge Ark, as instructed by God. We discussed how Noah was obedient to God and did as he was asked, then children used Lego to make their own Ark’s. We also linked this lesson to Science, thinking about which materials would work best if we built our own Ark!

Collective worship song

Please see below for Class 1’s song for their collective worship. Please encourage your child to sing along and practice with the lyrics.

Class 1’s Collective Worship is Wednesday 20th June.

Oats and beans and barley grow,
Oats and beans and barley grow,
Can you or I or anyone know
How oats and beans and barley grow?

First the farmer sows his seed,
Then he stands and takes his ease,
He stamps his foot and claps his hands,
And turns around to view the land.

Waiting for a partner,
Waiting for a partner,
Open the ring and let me in,
While we all daily dance and sing.

Oats and beans and barley grow,
Oats and beans and barley grow,
Can you or I or anyone know
How oats and beans and barley grow?

Next the farmer waters the seed,
Then he stands and takes his ease,
He stamps his foot and claps his hands,
And turns around to view the land.

Waiting for a partner,
Waiting for a partner,
Open the ring and let me in,
While we all daily dance and sing.

Oats and beans and barley grow,
Oats and beans and barley grow,
Can you or I or anyone know
How oats and beans and barley grow?

Next the farmer hoes the weeds,
Then he stands and takes his ease,
He stamps his foot and claps his hands,
And turns around to view the land.

Waiting for a partner,
Waiting for a partner,
Open the ring and let me in,
While we all daily dance and sing.

Oats and beans and barley grow,
Oats and beans and barley grow,
Can you or I or anyone know
How oats and beans and barley grow?

Last the farmer harvests his seed,
Then he stands and takes his ease,
He stamps his foot and claps his hands,
And turns around to view the land.

Waiting for a partner,
Waiting for a partner,
Open the ring and let me in,
While we all daily dance and sing.
