As promised, please see our wonderful art work below. Year 1 all worked so hard on their self-portraits, carefully using tissue paper for their backgrounds and using a pen to draw themselves! They look fantastic!
We have also been working on our new topic Materials in Science. This week, we looked at metal, glass, fabric, cardboard and plastic and spoke about their properties.
Dear Parents,
Class 1 will begin weekly spelling tests this half term. Children have been given their spellings today and will receive a new set of spellings every Monday. Tests will also take place weekly on Mondays. Please practice your child’s spellings at home with them, they each have 5 spelling words to learn.
I will also upload the spellings onto the blog weekly.

Class 1 have settled back well after the Christmas break and children have enjoyed sharing news from their time off school. We have been busy over the last 2 days getting our art portraits ready for a new display in the hall! We haven’t quite completed them yet, but once we have some pictures will be up.
Stars of the Week: All of Class 1
Class 1 have had another great week. Yesterday we had our Christmas party which included lots of dancing competitions, pass the parcel and guess the song!
We wish you all a very merry (and safe) Christmas and a Happy New Year.

We have enjoyed lots of Christmas festivities over the last few days! Children are having a wonderful week. Please see some of our pictures below.
We had a great trip on Friday to the Horniman Museum! Children enjoyed exploring different areas of the museum (especially with the walrus!) and taking part in an Arctic Adventure workshop. Please take a look at some of our photos below.
Stars of the Week: Nathan L, Freddie & Kourtney
Class 1 have had such a great week this week, so we have 3 star children! Well done to everyone for singing so lovely at the Cathedral yesterday, you made Margaret, Ellie and I very proud! Children have also been busy finishing their models and structures in DT this week, take a look at some of them in our photos below!
Stars of the week: Isabelle and Harry
We have been looking at 2D and 3D shapes this week in maths. Class 1 have worked so hard on learning all the names of shapes and talking about their properties. Children learnt how to sort shapes in different ways, such as by number of sides, colour or 2D/3D. Well done on working hard this week Class 1.
Well done on a great week Class 1! You have been so busy with assessments, our collective worship and our Christmas song rehearsals. This week you have also done a great job in DT, making your buildings and structures from different materials. You have all worked so hard and I am very proud of you all, please keep it up!
