Poetry Week – Saw it in the Playground!

Stars of the Week: Canaan and Maia

For poetry week, Class 2 created playground-themed riddles. We gave clues about our objects’ appearance by comparing them to other things and using a range of adjectives. We also thought about how rhyme and alliteration can enhance a poem.

Have a read of our poems here and see if you can guess the answers, which are written upside down at the bottom of each poem – no peeking!

On Friday, we performed ‘Today I Feel’ by Gervase Phinn to Class 3 & 5 and listened to their performances of playground poems. We then shared the poems written in class in small groups.

Finally, we created abstract playground art inspired by the painting ‘Swinging’ by Wassily Kandinsky.

Class 2 have had a wonderful poetry week!

If you would like to share any new riddles with us, please post them in the comments section.

Happy half term!
