Spring 2 – Week 2

Stars of the week: Evelyn & Gerard

We have had a very fun-filled Book Week! There has been such a buzz around the winged visitor in the library. It has really brought our English learning alive this week. We have been writing amazing stories inspired by a dragon folk tale from Japan. Class 2 have used excellent adjectives and interesting verbs to make their descriptions effective. They even included similes! We will be publishing our stories for display next week.

On Thursday we had the authors Jan Burchett & Sara Vogler in to do a workshop. They shared with us their experiences of being an author and took us on a treasure hunt, inspired by their book Sam Silver The undercover pirate. We have designed our own treasure maps and will be writing stories about them.

In maths we have been learning all about fractions. We have been learning about halves and quarters. Next week we will be thinking about thirds and the idea that 2 quarters is the same as a half. We have enjoyed this groovy video – you can have a listen at home.
