Books, glorious books!

Well done year three, I was so impressed with the book reviews that you wrote for homework and will look forward to putting them up in the classroom soon.

It would be super if you could recommend any books on this blog, so other readers can check here and get suggestions of books to read. It’s always a great idea to share a book that you loved reading.

Don’t forget to include:

Name of book

The author

What you enjoyed

Perhaps I could read a recommended book to the class?

Well done Class 3.

Right now I am reading a fantastic book called The London Eye Mystery by Siobhan Dowd. Also, a book called
Harry- Potter and the Goblet of Fire!

A book I want to review is called ‘Why the Whales came’ by Michael Morpurgo. The story is about two children that make friends with a mysterious character called The Birdman.
The story is set in the Scilly Isles, off Cornwall. Gracie and Daniel encounter a strange event that effects all the people of Bryher. I would definitely recommend this book to other children.

I recommend the Famous Five on a treasure island, by Enid Blyton.

Anne, Dick, Julian, Georgina and Tim the dog all really like going on adventures. This time they go to an island owned by their family and discover some very old dungeons. Georgina likes to pretend she is a boy so she calls herself George.

I like this book and it makes me want to carry on reading non-stop. I recommend that you read it.

    Author: Sue Hendra
What I enjoyed about the book: when the ice cream fell on the dog.
The book is about a cat named Keith with a pretend magic hat. Keith pretends to do magic, however he doesn’t really do magic. Magic just happens.
I would recommend others to read this book.

I enjoyed the book because it had a poem at the end .
The story is about a little girl who finds a magic penny up in her chimney.
When Jenny makes a wish the penny makes the wish come true!

Book:The Amazing Adventures of Henry the Electric Van’

    Author: Harrods
    Christmas Grotto series.

This book is about a van being the happiest delivery truck in the whole of London. But as time passed people stopped liking Henry because they were too interested in father Christmas. I recommend this book because I think you would find it interesting!

I recommend the boy in the dress because boys don`t normaly wear dresses. So the tittle is funny.
The dad is so fat all of his buttons pop off. It is a bit sad at the beginning. The mother died even before this book was made. There is another boy older then the boy in the dress. The dad does not buy dresses for any boys because he thinks it is silly. But the boy in the dress is lucky because he has a girl that is his friend who has dresses. So he tries them on and let’s see what happens next…

My book is called Diary of a Wimpy Kid : Rodrick rules
    Author : Jeff Kinney
This is a funny book about a boy called Greg and his mean brother Rodrick. Greg’s best and only friend is called Rowley. The book starts as in it’s a real diary, it’s handwriting is like someone’s proper handwriting. There are a lot  of pictures in this book and some of them are funny ones.It was funny when a new boy went to their school and then Greg gives the cheese touch to him and he doesn’t know about it.Another funny moment is when Greg came out the swimming pool in only his tiny swimming trunks. This book would be good for juniors to read a lot of the time. If you want to read more there’s a whole series.

I like the book called Sea Empress Disaster
It’s a really interesting book. It was very sad that sea empress is leaking crude oil into the waters of Carmarthen Bay where Ceri’s dad and his mates go fishing. The thing that I don’t like about  this book is that some of the fish and the birds die; but Ceri and his dad helped to remove crude oil from the sea.

You’re a bad man, Mr Gum
    By Andy Stanton
I like the book, because Mr Gum is very funny, dirty, dark and messy. He has an angry fairy living in his bathtub and that is the only thing he is scared of. He hates dogs, because they will mess up his garden, he doesn’t like children, because they are noisy.
He comes up with plans to poison the dog, so he won’t mess up the garden and get the fairy angry. What do you think will happen next?

What’s inside a black hole by Andrew Solway.

This book is about stars and black holes. I find this book fascinating, I learnt that the sun is not the biggest star in the galaxy. Time travel might be possible through worm holes.
