Summer 1 Week 3- Why does a plant need a stem?

During our Science lesson this week, we looked at the functions of a stem. After looking at plants in the school garden we discussed why a stem is such an important part of a plant. The stem holds the plant upright, and transports water to the other parts of the plant.

Class 3 have now set up a super Science experiment. We are trying to prove that one of the functions of a stem is to transport water to the other parts of the plant. Look at the photo below, can you predict what might happen?
