Star of the week: Yvette and Diane
In our history lesson this week, we became hunter-gatherers and found a variety of wild animals, nuts, seeds, berries and edible plants in the Peace Garden. During the early Stone Age, this was their only way of survival. They had to hunt for animals and gather other edible foods that were available. As a class, we then discussed how life during the Neolithic time (Late Stone Age) changed. A warmer climate and more rain meant that people could create settlements and grow crops. Pretending we were alive during the Stone Age, Class 3 wrote a letter to a friend explaining how much better life was. Class 3 worked really hard on their letters and included lots of subject specific vocabulary. Well done, Class 3!
Next week, we will be learning all about the well preserved Stone Age village, Skara Brae.

In their music lesson with Miss Dace this week, Class 3 did a brilliant job at learning some new songs and music games. Class 3 worked really hard at singing confidently and matching the pitch for each song. They even practised some actions too!

In Class 3 this week, we have been learning about instructions. In order to plan and write our own instructions, we prepared a British fruit salad and made notes on the steps. As a class, we thought very carefully about the imperative verbs that we could use, as well as making sure we carefully wrote down each step in chronological order. After making the fruit salad, we got to try it! It was delicious!

Class 3 have worked together with Class 1 and 2 to create an amazing display. We read the book Sharing a Shell by Julia Donaldson and discussed what a caring friend is, and what they might do for us. Based on our discussion, everyone in Class 3 wrote a Haiku poem. In addition to this, we also made sea anemones. Look at our display below!
Star of the week: All of Class 3
On Tuesday, Class 3 led the school in Collective Worship. All of Class 3 spoke confidently and clearly, as well as singing beautifully. Here is a photo of Class 3 in action (video to follow shortly). Well done Class 3, you were fabulous!

As part of our learning in P.S.H.E, we have been looking at how to make the healthy food and drink choices. Using the Eatwell plate, Class 3 looked at different meals and discussed which food groups they belong to. Class 3 found it really interesting to see that the ingredients in one meal can come from lots of different food groups. Here are some photos to show you part of our learning.
Star of the week: Max and Mariama
In Maths this week, we’ve been learning how to partition hundreds, tens and units. As a class, we looked at lots of different ways to partition 3-digit numbers, and used some really cool new resources to help us.
Good work, Class 3!
