In class 4, our topic this term has been Europe. We have researched physical and human features of Europe, capital cities, trade and climate.
Since we are coming to the end of the term, we thought we’d take some time to share some of our Europe facts! We hope you like them.
Did you know about 50 states Russia is by far the largest out of all the continents. Both WW were both largely focused on Europe.
Europe is a fascinating continent with a rich history and varied climate and culture. Thus it is no surprise that it is also an area rich with interesting facts. Here we will look at ten facts about Europe – there are many more where these come from and this is just a selection of the fascinating things there are to learn about Europe.
1. Europe is the second smallest continent in the world and consists of just 4 million square miles.
2. Europe unlike some continents is designated for political more than geographical reasons.
3. 700 million people live in Europe. However birth rates are relatively stagnant – and has one of the lowest fertility rates in the world.
4. However despite being low in fertility, Europeans are high in generosity and the ten most generous countries in terms of charities are all European. One of the more positive facts about Europe.
5. Much of the shape of Europe is a result of World War 1 and 2. The First World War caused the complete alteration or dissolution of four empires – the German, Ottoman, Russian and Austro-Hungarian. World War 2 meanwhile resulted in the death of 2.5 percent of the world’s population.
6. One of the most interesting facts about Europe is that it is believed that Europe is named originally after ‘Europa’ who was a Phoenician Princess from Greek Mythology.
7. The smallest country in Europe is The Vatican city – actually only 110 acres in total and with a population of just more than 800. It is located within Rome and is the home of Catholicism. Meanwhile the largest country in Europe is Russia (though Russia is only partially European) with an area of 17,098,242km2. These are also the smallest and largest countries in the world. One of the most interesting facts about Europe then is that it includes the smallest and largest countries in the world.
8. Interestingly 80 to 90 percent of Europe was once covered in forest. In the West one of the perhaps sadder facts about Europe is that this number now stands at only 3 percent.
9. One of the facts about Europe that is up for the most debate is the number of countries comprising the continent which varies slightly by definition. Approximately there are 50 states or ‘self governing political entities). This is not to be confused with the 27 member states of the EU. Interestingly there are around 70 former countries once a part of Europe that no longer appear on maps due to war and changing boarders.
10. Europe produces slightly over 18 percent of the world’s oil.
In Europe , there are no deserts
It is the only continent without any deserts. Most of the countries of Europe use a single currency called the Euro. Major Animals of Europe-European are tree frogs, Wild boars, Blue tits, Hedge hog and Roe Deer. Both world wars were largely focused in Europe. Three countries in Europe start with the letter “I”: Ireland, Italy and Iceland. Europe received its name from a princess in Greek mythology called Europa.

We have been learning about Europe, here are some facts that I bet you didn’t know:
1. The largest country in the whole of Europe is Ukraine

4. The leaning Tower of Pisa took nearly 200 years to build which different people helped and when some people died, others had to take over, but it is now used in a part of Europe a lot

The Cathedral of Notre Dame!
1) Notre Dame is 130 meters long, 48 meters wide and 35 meters high. The rose windows are 10 metres wide and the cathedrals pillars have a width of 5 meters.

4) The twin towers go as high as 69 metres (387 steps). The south tower houses the 13 ton Emmanuel bell.

Russia is so big it is also part of another continent. population of Russia is awfully big of course it would be because Russia is gigantic and very popular the population is 146 million. Russia is of course famous for the ballet dancers the gymnast and the unusual animals!
Spain is famous for the flamenco Dancers, the bull fighters and scrumptious oranges.
Germany is famous for the beautiful city Berlin, it is also famous for the cars they make.
The population of Germany is 80,781,000, that is a lot isn’t it!
Italy is famous for pizza, pasta, beautiful beaches and the leaning tower of Pisa. Did you know the leaning tower of Pisa is 8 stories high?
The population of Scotland is 5,327,700, Scotland is famous for the men who wear kilts and the musical instruments they play like the bagpipes!
The population of Finland is an awful lot, it is 5.4 million. Finland is famous for the wild mushrooms they grow and the wolverine!
You cannot believe the population of Poland it’s 38 million. Poland is famous for the ships they make and for the bison!
Norway is popular for the special fjord ponies and the snow! The population of Norway is 5,109,059 people.
Europe is the most powerful continent with rich history, varied climate & culture it contains the most impressive countries and economies.
SCRACH EVALUATION!
1. The features Io and I did were the background ,animals sounds and also the words to make the times tables test!
2. We made our scratch project exiting by adding an extra sound also we got an extra sprite so when you get the wrong answer a duck spins around quacking.
3. We could have made it better by making more of a colourful background instead of a dark colour background. Also if we used a different noise so it would sound very unusual!
4.Tell them the basic steps that you used when you first started scratch. Show them how to make easy script with simple steps also challenge them and show them how to make a sound!
