Spring 1 – Week 2

Stars of the week: Chimamanda and Teniola

In class 4 this week we have been writing character and setting descriptions of Henry VIII and his banquet hall. We played games to help us gather and share descriptive ideas. These descriptions will be used in our historical fiction stories that we are writing next week.

In maths we have been multiplying 3 digit numbers by 1 digit numbers using written methods. I have been so impressed with Class 4’s perseverance. They are working hard to make sure they can explain how to do the methods.  Next week, we will be looking at written methods for division.

This term in Science we are learning about sound. In our first lesson we thought about the relationship between sounds and our distance from the source.

Spring 1 – Week 1

Stars of the week: Fabian and Eayon

Our topic this half term is The Terrific Tudors. Class 4 are already learning huge amounts about who they were and what life was like for people during that time. We have started a book in English called “The Thief, the fool and the big fat king.” It is a Tudor tale which will inspire our own historical fiction writing. Class 4 are already bursting with exciting ideas!

Autumn 2 – Week 7

Stars of the week: Aden & Annie

Class 4 started to get festive this week, as we made gingerbread biscuits in food technology! They planned their designs, researched recipes, measured the ingredients, worked as a team to do the mixing and once they had finished they decorate and ate them. I think we have some future ‘British bake-off’ contestants on our hands.

Year 6 ran a polling station for the school which allowed Class 4 to vote on which party they would want to lead our country.

Autumn 2 – Week 6

Stars of the week: Tallulah & Kaspian

Well done Class 4 on a wonderful Christmas Service. Your singing was stunning and all the hard work really paid off.

In Science this half term we have been exploring electricity. Class 4 have been problem-solving with circuits and have learnt how to draw them using symbols.

Next week in Class 4, we will be writing descriptive narratives using the skills we have built up this week. We will be entering a ‘100-word saga’ competition too!

Autumn 2 Week 5

Stars of the week: Lyonna and Samuel

Well done Class 4 for all your hard work, focus and enthusiasm during Assessment Week!

Class 4 have created fact files about different European countries and included how they celebrate Christmas. Every day during December we will open a new door on our class advent calendar to discover these facts.

Class 4 have made great progress in recorders this term. They are now able to play 5 notes and will be working on different tunes over the next few weeks.

Next week we will be the Christmas production, so make sure you are practising the songs this weekend.

Autumn 2 – Week 4

Stars of the week: Christina & Filip

This half term we have been looking at how different countries in Europe celebrate Christmas. To extend this learning across the world, we have written letters and made felt stocking for a school in Vietnam. This is a school that Miss Campbell taught in last year. Our letters share interesting facts about ourselves and explain how we celebrate Christmas. Class 4 each designed and made felt stockings for them too to show a Christmas tradition we have. Hopefully our package arrives in Vietnam before Christmas. We are excited for the replies!

Autumn 2 – Week 3

Stars of the week: Leo and Cecilia

We had a brilliant Spanish Day in Class 4 and managed to squeeze so much in! We played number games, researched and made fact files about Spain, used atlas’ to find Spanish-speaking countries, had a visit from Aldara’s dad AND made Gaudi inspired mosaics! Well done Class 4 for your amazing energy and effort 🙂 Here are some photos to give you a flavour of our day…

Autumn 2 – Week 2

Stars of the week: Remy & Canaan

A massive well done to Class 4 for their technology projects. There are a huge variety of projects and you can tell a lot of effort has gone into making them. The exhibition was packed with people admiring their work. Here are some photos of Class 4 presenting their projects.

Autumn 1 – Week 7

Stars of the week: The whole of Class 4

Well done Class 4 for a brilliant Collective Worship. You really enjoyed sharing all the amazing learning you have done this half term. Your sea dragon was also a roaring success! You showed great problem-solving skills and team work. You should all feel so proud of everything you have achieved this half term.
