Class 5’s First Mandarin Lesson

Class 5 had fun and began learning a brand new language today: Mandarin!

We learnt greetings, and how to introduce ourselves. Some of Class 5 have decided to do some extra research to find out more about China, and everyone is going to practice outside of school, either with Chinese friends or by teaching other people what they have learnt.

Everyone who does will get one of Molly’s special stamps!

Why not post what you did, or found out, here to share it with the rest of the class?

Class 5 LOVE reading!

Class 5 have done loads of book reviews for all of their favourite titles, so go to the English Blog to find them! Everyone that leaves a recommendation for their friends at Cathedral School will get their picture on the class reading board too.

Class 5 Trip

The London Central Mosque and Islamic Cultural Centre

Today we went to this amazing Mosque, near Regent’s Park, and found out more about Islamic worship and the artifacts which can be found inside a Mosque. The girls covered their hair with scarves and we all took off our shoes. We saw prayers taking place and looked at the Arabic calligraphy and Islamic geometric designs which decorated the prayer room.

We thought about the similarities and differences with Southwark Cathedral, a very familiar place of worship for all of us. What can you think of?
