Class 5 at the Project Exhibition

The Great Exhibition of 1851 saw a massive showcasing of industrial goods and artwork from across the world. The exhibition was held in Hyde Park between May and October and thousands of people came to the event to witness all the amazing technological and artistic wonders.

Thursday April 3rd saw Cathedral School participate in a great exhibition of their own. They exhibited the projects that they had been working on throughout the spring term. The projects were based on an historical event that the pupils found interesting. Can you identify the historical event that’s been researched in the following photos?IMG_1187IMG_1197IMG_1192IMG_1184IMG_1188

Class 5 to lead the Post-Resurrection service at the Cathedral

The exciting news is that Class 5 have the privilege of leading the next service at the cathedral. The class will be leading a service themed on the resurrection of Jesus (the resurrection is when Jesus returned to life after the crucifixion).

The service will reflect on some of the post-resurrection stories from the Bible. If you would like to have a role in the service then you will need to be familiar with the stories listed below. Click on the links to read the stories, then reflect on what they mean to Christians and what we can learn from the stories. The script for the service is here Cathedral Service Year 5 Su1 2015 – post resurrection service.

1) Jesus and Mary in the garden – Jesus calling Mary by her name, and knowing us by name – click here for more information.

2) Jesus and the two on the Road to Emmaus – making himself known to people who were sad and confused (and to us when we feel the same) – click here for more information.

3) Jesus and the fishermen – giving them (and us) confidence to go into the deeper water – click here for more information.

4) Jesus and Thomas – helping people (like us) with questions to believe – click here for more information.

Also we will be saying some prayers during the service. Think about the following theme and then write a prayer that could be read in the cathedral. Our theme – asking Jesus to make himself known to us and to be with us (and others who are sad, lost, frightened, or who do not or cannot believe) in all we do.
