On Tuesday 7th February, as part of Internet Safety Day, Year 5 looked at safely using and sharing images on the internet. In English, Year 5 have been created fact files about Natural Disasters. During this project, Year 5 have safely inserted images into their books, as well as inserting in informative videos and diagrams. I hope you enjoy looking at, and reading Year 5’s fact files.

Year 5 have worked really hard to produce some wonderful volcanoes. They look extremely life-like, and have taken a lot of time in order to create such a realistic effect.

Step 1 – We had to glue a bottle to the base of the cardboard

Step 2 – Scrunch newspaper into small balls and bulk out the shape

Step 3 – Cover this structure with mod-rock

Step 4 – Then paint to create an authentic looking volcano.

Today Year 5 did an assembly highlighting the impact of global warming on our environment. We also looked at the dangers of natural disasters, and the impact that these have on communities. We reminded ourselves that our job is to care for the planet and our community.

Thank you to all of the parents and carers who came and showed their support today. If you were unable to, here are a few snapshots of the assembly for you to enjoy.
