Autumn Week 4 – What was life like for a Victorian child?

This week in Year 5, we have learning about what life was like for a Victorian child. We discussed working conditions in the coal mines, within factories and mills, out in the countryside, and inside manor houses as domestic servants.

Thankfully, we also learnt about the people who campaigned for the rights for children to have an education. We imagined we were Lord Shaftsbury and Dr Barnado, and wrote compelling speeches to urge other citizens to vote for a change, and thus ensuring a more educated and healthier future generation.

Well done Year 5! Excellent speeches! Bravo!
