Spring 2- Week 2

Year 5 stars of the week: Tiyana and Daniel

This week we have been celebrating Book Week. In Year 5 we have been reading ‘The Secret Garden’. We have written some fantastic setting descriptions using some ambitious vocabulary that we have collected. Please be sure to read our wonderful work in the Key Stage 1 corridor!

We read some interesting stories to Year 1…

… and dressed up as our favourite book characters. Can you guess who we are?

i really enjoy alex rider because if i finish it then i can just go on to the next one . It also makes my vocabulary better than it already is and gives me ideas. For example when i am writing a story or a description i think of the alex rider series then use to help me

Book week and Book day was an amazing experience to look at different books and there features! My favourite part was when we got to pick a book and find out which teacher would read it to us. I chose the book ‘Edwardo’ because I thought it would be funny and interesting-it was read by Mr Morrel. I really enjoyed looking at other people’s costume on book day and asking them if they would recommend there character’s book which surprisingly was literally everyone! 2019 Book week and Book day was awesome! Thank you!

My favourite thing about world book day was when we got to dress up as characters from our favourite books but the only problem about dressing up as Smithers is that my tummy kept falling out!

My favourite part of World Book Week was dressing up as a character of our choice on World Book Day. I dressed up as Alex Rider from the Alex Rider series all written by the amazing author, Anthony Horowitz. I have really enjoyed the series of books as they are daring, exciting and also full of heartbreak if someone unfortunately passes away. I also enjoyed reading to the Year 1 children. It was an incredible chance to bond and make friend that are 5 or 6 years old who we would hardly know. I also really liked writing our amazing setting descriptions. This was a chance to improve on my English skills such as punctuation, grammar, spelling and vocabulary all in writing a descriptive setting description. I have really enjoyed World Book Week 2019 in every activity I have participated in.

I really enjoyed writing up my setting description of the secret garden. On world book day I dressed up as robin from the midnight gang written by David waliams that’s why I was in my pajamas it was very comfy wearing pajamas to school. I think my class did a good job of dressing up we should of won a prize. I saw the secret garden display and it looked phenomenal well done to Janet for the lovely display.

My favourite part of Book Week was hearing the story. (Tin Forest). Also I dressed up as Tommo from Private Peaceful. He is a very nice and calm person. The Tin Forest was a very simple book. but I like it. It wasn’t a hard stressful.

I LOVED World Book Day! I was Pippi Longstockings by Astrid Lindgren. Crazy, right? My favourite, most enjoyable part was reading to the Year 1 class. They. Are. So. Cute! I read to Sienna’s sister. We read a book called don’t eat the teacher! I kind of feel sorry for Sally, the shark. 🙂 I also enjoyed writing my description for ‘The Secret Garden’. I got to use some pieces of writing I read in some books. After starting my ‘500 story word story’ I decided to finish it off in school. I am so glad to have been part of ‘World Book Day 2019’. 🙂

I really enjoyed reading to the year 1’s because they choose fantastic books and fables. I also really enjoyed listening to Mr Morrell read a really funny and entertaining book called Edwardo. I had so much fun on World Book Day and seeing everybody’s outfits. I choose to be Miss Honey from Mathilda because it is a fantastic book and it is very entertaining. I think every child should have a book to read and enjoy World Book Day with their family and friends.
