Stars of the Week: All of Class 5

A big ‘well done’ to all of Class 5 who delivered an excellent collective worship. Their singing was beautiful and they were so confident when speaking. It was lovely to see all their work (which is now on display in the class) and hear all about their learning.

Spring 1 – Week 5

Stars of the Week: Gabrielle & Hudson

This week, we have been finishing our Victorian Britain topic by looking at Florence Nightingale and Dr Thomas John Barnardo, two people who made a great contribution to improving the lives of many during these difficult times.

We spent time researching them before we wrote our own information texts about them.

Spring 1 – Week 4

Stars of the Week: Rosa & Sean

This week, we have been creating some artwork for our display in the hall. We used chalk pastels to create our artwork which was tricky because they smudge so easily! We soon got the hang of them and were able to blend the colours to make some beautiful work.  Our artwork was created from Matthew 3: 11-12,

“I baptise you with water for repentance. But after me comes one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptise you with the Holy Spirit and fire.  His winnowing fork is in his hand, and he will clear his threshing floor, gathering his wheat into the barn and burning up the chaff with unquenchable fire.”

Spring 1 – Week 3

Stars of the Week: Scarlett & Cruz

This week, we have been learning all about life in Victorian Britain. We learnt all about different jobs that children would do and they would sometimes start working when they were four years old!

We researched what life was like in a Victorian workhouse and wrote our own setting descriptions based on this.
