It was six o’clock. Me, Jack, Aisa and a few others strode into school full of excitement, beaming. We were going to the West End to see The Lion King! No year six had ever done this before, it was one of a kind. Finally, we got to the theatre and were eager to sit in our seats. A voice told us that the show was about to begin. A powerful Rafiki started the show singing The Circle of Life. It was incredible. An elephant (not a real one) walked down the aisle. A leopard came onto the stage, with a bird behind him. A herd of zebras came galloping on, followed by the king and queen – Mufasa and Sarabi- with their new baby son – Simba. A swarm of applause was carried across the theatre. The show went on, getting more exciting as it went along. When the interval came, we were all dazzled with how brilliant this show was! We were given all a kitkat and then the second half began, our concentration had began again. There were more amazing and unexpectedly brilliant songs. When it did end – sadly – we went and waited for our parents or went in a taxi back to school. I think we can make our play the standard the West End show is, we are up for the challenge!

It was so so so so so so so good! It was fabulous to see all of the characters, who we will be performing in our class play, on the big stage and I loved every moment and every flashing light and every vibrant costume.

The Lion King in the theatre was amazing; I had a really good time and the best part was when Scar died. They also had energy when they were acting, which made it seem real; so last night was a night I will never forget.

The Lion King was fantastic, because all the costumes and the music and the actors were tip top – especially Pumbaa and Timon because they were both really funny when they said this joke to Simba:
“Hakuna matata – it’s our motto!”
    “What’s a motto?”
“Nothing! What’s the matta with you?” (it sounded a lot more funnier in theatre!)
It was spectacular from start to finish, no wonder it is in the theatre! I loved the way (young) Simba turned into (older) Simba, because it was all black in the middle of Hakuna matata and from young Simba he turned into older Simba. I would recommend this show to everybody at Cathedral Primary School. And I really like everybody at the end of the show when the were bowing and everybody clapping for such a amazing show!

The character I liked most in the lion king was Nala. Why?  The reason is because when she thought Simba had died, she showed lots of emotion. I describe Nala as confident, smart and strong. I enjoyed The Lion King because the characters were very humorous and effective.

Going to see the Lion King was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. I have always enjoyed going to see shows at the theatre – and the Lion King might just be the best one yet! The whole show was jam-packed with amazing colours, costumes, dances, songs and lights; in our end-of-year play we really have something to live up to! The actors were amazing and every single person seemed to steal the stage at some point (Nala and Simba with their songs, Timone and Pumbaa with their laughs and Scar with his pure evilness). Everybody in my class and the adults who went on the trip with us all seem to agree with me about how amazing it was, and not just because of all the chatter at the end. The next morning, people were still talking about how wonderful it was. This play is definitely worth seeing: from the excitement on the night to the lie-in in the next morning, the whole thing added up to be the best school trip EVER!

Yesterday was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had in my life, I don’t  think I’ll ever have another chance like that! As you may know yesterday my class (year 6) went to see The Lion King in Convent Garden. We were intrigued by the fabulous and colourful costumes. Thank you to all the members of staff who made this possible for us.

I enjoyed the show immensely. Everything was amazing from the vibrant costumes to the murkiest stage settings. The actors were all very focused and did not make a single mistake but even if they did, we wouldn’t have known it! Personally, my favourite part was ‘Be Prepared’ because it started off as an evil song by a terrifying villain but suddenly switched to a fast hyena dance with rainbow strobe lights. I recommend this show to everyone as it is a show you will certainly remember forever!

The Lion King was not good….it was AMAZING! The songs were amazing. The acting was amazing. The costumes were amazing. It was the best trip ever. I had so much fun. I wanted to write down notes but it was so good I didn’t have time. If you have a chance to go and see it I would.
I hugely enjoyed it and I am so happy that I had a chance go and see it .
    Thank you so very much.

Last night the class went to the theatre in Covent Garden where we watched The Lion King. Rafiki’s solo was really good, I really enjoyed it and would recommend it to others. We had a break halfway and took a taxi back home. If I was offered to go again I would.

My favourite part was when Pumbaa and Timon taught Simba what Hakuna Matata ment by singingand I also liked it when young Simba turned into old Simba and how he changed from how he was before. Thank you for this opportunity Cathedral School.

    Best School Trip Ever!

Last night the class and I went to the Lyceum theatre to watch ‘The Lion King’. The anticipation was eating me up inside. I had to see the show sooner! But then, before I knew it, we were sitting in rows, watching in awe as the lights went out, and a single spotlight beamed across the room and landed on a single actor. Then the first scene began. I was amazed by their skill and power. Before long, I found myself only hearing and seeing Simba, Nala, Mufasa, Scar, but not the talented actors who played them, the actual characters, the lions, antelopes, zebras and giraffes, there, talking to their fellow thespians on stage.

When it came to the finale, everyone came out on stage and celebrated the birth of the new born cub. I loved the way that they moved the body of the puppet (playing the cub) and made it seem like it was squirming in the arms of Rafiki.

My favourite scene was probably the very first scene, because there were so many people dancing, singing and manipulating their bodies to create it. There were actors crawling on the floor, leaping and really using their bodies. I loved how they made the scene incredible by acting, but didn’t even speak once! I also really enjoyed the stampede scene, because although the actual concept of it wasn’t particularly pleasant, I loved the way that they all took advantage of the stage and used every nook and cranny of it to really make the scene seem real.

This was a truly inspiring performance, and if ever offered the chance to see it again, I will most definitely take it!

Last night was the BEST night of my life! I was not surprised that they had spent over £1 million on the production because every costume ‘from the crawling ant to the leaping antelope’ was jaw dropping. This show is guaranteed to make you cry and laugh and sit on the edge of your seat in awe. It is definitely a must see production.

I really enjoyed watching The Lion King at the Lyceum Theatre. I really liked the scene when Rafiki sang Circle of Life; the animals in the scene was amazing! When Mufasa (Shaun Escoffery) died, I could feel how Simba (Jonathan Andrew Hume and Ezrae Maye) felt because it was very emotional. The animals were fantastic and great; the giraffes acted like  giraffes by moving slowly and the birds acted like birds by moving gently and calmly. When I was watching it, I learnt that the people on stage kept moving and they didn’t stand still. The costumes that the people wore were definitely eye-catching; the props that they used were absolutely extraordinary. The people on stage were always their character in the production, which was great, even though they weren’t talking. This whole trip was such a delight to go to and watch.

That was the best experience I have had ever in my days at Cathedral School. The actors were hilarious and were like actual lions getting ready to pounce and the roars were so lifelike that I could imagine a real lion in the room. Zazu was a pesky, but rather fair bird, and in even the toughest situations he was still as elegant and gentle as a cloud. Young Simba had bravery and courage in his heart, but when it was shown to the outside world, it was like a baby learning to walk independently. His hands, in situations when he was practicing or fighting, were claw-shaped, just like a lion. Pumbaa and Timon used a lot of expression and a range of different  movements (as Simba, Nala, Mufasa, Sarabi and Scar did too).  Young Nala was a very independent, courageous and full of attitude young girl. She was very loud in action and word. Scar was a mischievous actor and tried to ruin Simba`s life by killing him. It was like another world, but more extraordinary and full of life. It was like entering the director’s imagination and what he was seeing and what he was thinking inside his head (like when Zazu, young Nala and young Simba all entered into Simba`s imagination).

I wish I could go again (if was not so expensive!).
Thank you so much Mr. Scott, Mrs. Scott, Janet, Brenda, Timi, Miss Fullana, Mrs. Rees!
That really made my day, my week, my evening and my days in Cathedral School. I will always miss this school and never forget it.

Yesterday was a day with mixed emotions; we all arrived at school for a six o’clock departure. As I entered school, it was a weird feeling as we were in school at six o’clock and we are normally in school for nine until three; as I entered the classroom I saw some of my friends already at school, buzzing to go and see The Lion King. Although the expectation was impalpable, we could not contain how excited we were. As a class, we only waited a few minutes before leaving to get to the theatre. It was quite a walk and with the sun beaming down us – it made us even more tired! We could all see the theatre from a distance. As we got closer to the theatre, we could see exactly how busy it was, we lucky got to take a quick picture before going in. I really could not believe that it was happening; before the show started, we were able to talk for about 15 mins… and then the show!

The beginning of the show was amazing, to the costumes, to the set, to the actors… it was incredible, as the animals, like the elephants and buzzards (birds), came down the aisle. It was an amazing scenery because the costumes took so much dedication and so much care. From the beginning to the end of the show, it was a show everyone had to watch and we all looked at how our character was played and how we had to match that. We all know we need to have energy and do different things on stage. This show is one to watch and thank you for making this happen. Our show is going to be something to watch too.

I absolutely loved The Lion King because it had so much energy and I think the actors really enjoy it as much as we do. The scenes were so … busy; everybody was doing something, only a few people ever stood still . Rafiki was amazing; we could hear her voice, it was so engaging especially in The Circle of Life. Young Simba was so alive. His claws were ready – not that he actually has claws – he was always ready to pounce; he was so childish (but in a good way). The costumes were so amazing, all the different parts hanging down off of them. It was amazing!

We left at precisely 6:07. Grinning, gossiping and giggling, we took the scenic walk to the Lyceum Theatre. After a quick head count, a few photographs and a toilet trip we took our seats and talked. No one had any idea what the play would be like.
‘It might be full of flying animals!’ said someone behind me.
‘I think this play is going to be a modern twist on it!’ said someone else but they were both wrong. The lights went off suddenly. A gasp arose. Many people were still whispering but were silenced when the first shrill note rang out over the hall. Rafiki was on stage, her face alive, her eyes sparkling. I saw Kiran sit up suddenly to the left of me somewhere. I was immediately engaged. Hyenas, elephants and other animals flounced up the aisles.

‘It’s the Circle of Life…And it moves us all…Through despair and hope…Through faith and love…’Till we find our place…On the path unwinding…In the Circle…The Circle of Life!’ she ended to a powerful round of applause. Then it was Scar’s turn. I sat up and watched him, taking note of his every movement. As the show progressed, I watched everyone around me watch their character. Then, it was half-time. Mrs Scott gave out yummy Kit-Kats as a half time treat. The lights suddenly dimmed. In my opinion, the second half was not as good as the first but I still loved the second half. The end was so beautiful with vibrant birds swooping through the skies and a machine that made antelope jump!

From the ‘crawling ant to the leaping antelope’, this show was astonishing. Every moment was captivating and breath-taking. Not a single moment was dull. I recommend that everyone should see this play at least once in their life. Nothing in this show was bad. This was one of the best evenings of my life.

WOW!! Year 6 it looks like you had a great time, I wish I was there! I wonder what it was like on a school trip in your own clothes and going home at 10pm! I bet it was fun! I can’t wait to be in Year 6 because you get to do the most exciting things like go to PGL and produce the end of year show, but it is also sad leaving the school when you have been there for 7 or 8 years.
