Cathedral Service

Tomorrow is the first Cathedral Service led by this year’s Class 6. We have many thoughtful and interesting things to say, and have practiced our delivery. We used our reflections from World Faiths Week and a visit from Father Michael to help us prepare.

    Heavenly  Father,
Let your fountain of light pour upon us your holy presence revealing your love .
Bring us eternal wisdom to know when we are being led astray into darkness.
Kindle our lamps to show our true colours and potential, whenever we are in doubt of who we are.
Thank you for lessening the darkness in the despair of night .
Thank you for letting others see our light when we feel discouraged.
    Amen

    Almighty God,
We thank you for the light that leads us through the dark and the bright light that dispels the darkness. If we did not have your loving light, the world would be dark and scary, but you give us eternal everlasting light, thank you lord. We thank you for the brightness you give us, please keep your light everlasting and let it last forever.

Saltiness is our special power within us, which is a blazing fire and it is bright and colorful, but if we don’t use our saltiness it is hidden in our heart where nobody can see all of our special talents. So we must always show our salt and inspire others to do the same and in that way we can shine God’s light around the world and share love and happiness with others. As we all experience new things we also have disappointments which makes us stronger and wiser, the fountain of everlasting love.

There are many things in life that we want but, there are things in life that we need – like Love. Knowing that someone’s undying love is for you, is so strong it makes you feel special inside. Love, this word can change someone’s life forever.

    Bright shining light
    And your loving and
    Caring heart
    And for protecting
    Us every day.
    With your glorious
    Spirit, you have
    Been looking at us from
    Heaven, loving us
    With your life from
    The day you rose from
    The dead.
    Thank you for giving
    Us light
You are shining as a diamond and beautiful
    As a summer sun.

We all have something unique inside of us. You are like salt for the whole human race. We are all salt.  Salt is special, and if you lose your saltiness you will lose your specialness. Our salt is a fire in our hearts full of true colour and potential, made brighter by the golden opportunities showered on us all, especially here at Cathedral School. We are different, let’s celebrate that. Imagine if all food tasted the same, imagine if everyone you met was the same. Each of us brings something different to life, if we share and celebrate this, we will all be richer.

We all have something beautiful inside of us, a fire in our hearts, our true colours and potential. An overflowing fountain of light. We have salt. Salt is our crimson flame, the flavour we bring – living a life in all of its fullness. Our talents that we use in everyday life to achieve the best that we can.
In a world that may seem bleak, dark and angry, our saltiness can bring joy, love and hope. We will not be thrown out and trampled on, instead we will flourish and shine like the celestial sun dispelling darkness and ignorance, for we are all salt and we should never lose our saltiness- it is a part of us.

    Dear God,
    Please give us,
    Salt to give us personality,
    Light to extinguish the darkness,
Love to love you and each other,
Strength to fight off the darkness,
Hope so we are not afraid,
Joy to share with our brothers and sisters,
Bravery so we can dispel the darkness,
Wisdom so we can stay by your side,
Potential so we can be leaders,
    Belief to keep us strong.
For this we say thank you.

Our bright lights can be leading lights. They can help anyone who is in need. We can use our light to show the path to love and joy and to guide those around us to peace and success. We can guide those in need to achieve something better. So let your light shine out, do not hide it or be reluctant to share it. Let shine in everything you do, at school, at home, with your friends, in your classroom. Show the love and joy inside you. Let it shine.

    Reflection:
The light is you. Share yourself. Friendship. Care. Love. Honesty. Justice! Have courage, determination to excel, not to hide, and with this you will be a crimson, shimmering, pure flame that will dispel the darkness of ignorance and loneliness.
Be the light to those who are blind, those who are lost in a gloomy void full of despair and tragedy. There are many people in the world whose troubles takeover their minds like a swarm of angry bees, buzzing in their heads. Again, share yourself. Friendship. Care. Love. Honesty. Justice – and the light will shine through their souls, making their troubles fade.

We are salt for the world; we are unique, special and precious to God. If we doubt who we are inside we as children and adults all of us don’t live life to the full. Overwhelmed with being someone else doesn’t please God. Discovering the specialness inside us is better than riches and luxuries – that’s what makes God happy. Salt is like a seed growing in us unleashing our full potential. In order to feel good about ourselves we have to except that we are different to others .That means we are capable of living a kingdom life happy with ourselves and God. A crimson shimmering flame is inside of us ready to burst out and show the greatness inside of us revealing God’s love, light and salt. As a new day will dawn upon us new salt will be poured upon enriching a new beginning to us and others.

Without light we are in danger and desperation, trying to look out into the night darkest hour, feeling like there are threats surrounding us. Lurking in the dark. Suddenly, you see a speck of sunlight and the clouds hurry away, enough light to see where you are, and the fear diminishes. When you can see, the dark cannot play tricks on your mind. In the atramentous, stygian darkness have the courage and determination to overcome adversity. If I were to control the light I would make it bright evermore, yet I do not so we just have to face up to our fears. Share your light with others who feel they are trapped in a darkness full of fears. Help them to shine a light.

    Creation commanded,
We evoke you, the fountain of everlasting light, scatter the darkness and let the light come
    forward.
Make the eternal light spread through everyone in the kingdom of God.
Let all the special salts inside everyone enable them to excel and be unique in their own ways.
So in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,
    Amen.

Love is a strong feeling we all have inside us. It is the contracting of your stomach when someone leaves you behind. When you help a friend and you have a warm glow radiating from your face. When you meet someone new, and you both smile, because you know you will be friends. This is love.

When they are all with you, you feel comfortable, jubilant and innocuous. When they are not, you have an unadorned feeling in your stomach. You are lonely, nobody to share jokes with, to discuss your most important thoughts with. And that feeling never disappears until you see them again.

It is vital that when your friends are with you do not chase them away, you need to cling on to them and never let them go. When they need you stay with them, as they stayed with you. When they are facing challenges in their life comfort them as they comforted you. Love is always returned.

You are like a light for the whole world. The light to shine out of darkness – dispelling it. Morning, afternoon, evening, night; any time of the day. Be the flame burning inside of us, make it as bright as heaven. Make the flame everlasting. Be the torch shining in the darkness to guide us on the right path.

If you know how to calculate 125 x 192, if you bicycle kick the  winning goal, if you know what assonance is (and can use it), if you speak Cantonese, Mandarin and Swahili, if you have the newest phone and the richest family, but, have no love – the success is cold. If you do not have friends to cherish these accomplishments with, then you only have half the joy.

The greatest and most true light comes from a special place in our hearts. We shimmer like stars in the sky, guiding others on the smooth path beneath our feet. We inspire others by the example that we set. We can all shine as bright as the living light within us – we are all believed in and all cared for. God guides us with his loving light – he is a lighthouse to all of us, a traffic warning us of danger ahead, a guide dog who we can always love and trust.

We all have something exceptionally beautiful inside of us, a blazing fire in our hearts, our true colours and potential a bundle of achievement and joy. An overflowing fountain of light. We have salt. Preserving, flavouring, enriching salt. Salt is our crimson flame, the flavour we bring – living a life in all of its fullness. Our shining, dazzling, helpful talents that we use in everyday life to achieve the best that we can. Salt is the difference between a wilting flower and a flower ready to blossom, pure, white and independent.
In a world that may seem bleak, dark and angry, our saltiness can bring joy, love and hope. We will not be thrown out and trampled on, instead we will flourish, shine and gleam like the celestial sun in a cerulean sky dispelling decades of darkness and ignorance, for we are all powerful, caring, guiding salt and we should never lose our special  saltiness- it is a part of us.

    Mathew 5, verse 13
You are like the salt for the whole human race. But if salt looses its saltiness, then their is no way to
make it salty again. It has become worthless,so it is thrown out and people trample on it.

    Heavenly Father,
We thank you for love that surpasses any other thing, we thank you for love that is patient and kind, never jealous or conceited or proud, we thank you for love that is not ill- mannered or selfish or irritable, we thank you for love that does not keep a record of wrongs, we thank you for love that never gives up, we thank you for love as its faith, hope and patience never fail.
Love is caring for someone, love is complete, love is forgiveness and love is always returned. You may be able to speak in many languages, and you may have all the knowledge in the world but without love you have nothing. Love is like a bridge of everlasting hope and joy and faith but if you do not have love the bridge will fall. Thank you Lord for simple love that brings us all together.
    Amen
