Spring 1 – Week 6

Stars of the Week: Juno & Victor

This week, we have been busy finishing our ancient Egyptian portraits. We transformed ourselves into Egyptian royalty by creating authentic headdresses and jewelry worn by the Egyptian pharaohs. We also decorated around the outside with hieroglyphics – ancient Egyptian writing.

Spring 1 – Week 5

Stars of the Week: Beatrice & Mazin

This week, we visited the fire station on Old Kent Road to take part in the Southwark Junior Citizenship Scheme. We engaged in lots of different workshops which taught us some important skills. We learnt about how to stay safe on the tubes and buses, fire safety and road safety. We even learnt how to put someone in the recovery position and had two informative talks from the police. This was all to help us get ready for secondary school, where many of us will be making our own way to school.

Spring 1 – Week 4

Stars of the Week: Max & Mariama

Last week, we visited the Houses of Parliament for a workshop about laws and debating. We also had a tour through the building and got to see the House of Commons and the House of Lords. We enjoyed listening to them debating new laws about neonatal care and leave as well as allocation of tips (in the hospitality industry).

Spring 1 – Week 3

Stars of the Week: Sebastian & India

This week, we have been learning about what life was like in ancient Egypt. We looked at the discovery of an ancient Egyptian tomb and all the things which were inside, including clothes, jewelry and even food! They believed that they would need all this in the afterlife.

We also looked at the food they ate and what they drank. They ate a lot of bread, fruit and vegetables and drank quite a bit of beer and wine, too.

Spring 1 – Week 2

Stars of the Week: Olivia & Yonaton

This week has been a busy week! We’ve been busy finishing our Art Week pictures. We created our own London cityscape images using a range of art techniques, including collaging, painting, sketching and stippling.

We also started our gymnastics sessions and have started working on our handstands, rolls and cartwheels.

Autumn 2 – Week 6

Stars of the Week: Victor & Isabella

In Science, we have been learning all about fossils and how they provide us with information about the past, especially evolution.

We looked at different fossil types including:

Replacement fossils

Whole body fossils

Mould and cast fossils

Coprolite

Have a look at this fossil and see if you can guess what it might have been.

Autumn 2 – Week 5

Stars of the Week: Sarah & Sebastian

This week, we finished our wonderful display Christmas display board. We used paint and tape to create the design on the houses and made the stars by cutting, folding and sticking them in place.

In RE, we explored the true meaning of Christmas and created our own adverts. We made storyboards to show what happens in them and what the overall message would be, making links to the true meaning of Christmas.
