We Are the World

Adults:
There comes a time, when we heed a certain call,
When the world must come together as one.

Children:
There are people dyin’
Ooh and it’s time to lend a hand
To life, the greatest gift of all.

Adults:
We can’t go on, pretending day by day,

Children:
That someone, somewhere will soon make a change.

Adults:
We are all a part of one great big family,
Love is all we need…

Children:
CHORUS
We are the world, we are the children,
We are the ones to make a brighter day,
So let’s start giving.
There’s a choice we’re making,
We’re saving our own lives,
Its true, we make better days,
just you and me.

When you’re down and out, there seems no help at all,
But if you just believe, there’s no way we can fall,
Well, well, well,
Let us realise, that a change will only come,
When we stand together as one.

CHORUS
We are the world, we are the children,
We are the ones to make a brighter day,
So let’s start giving.
There’s a choice we’re making,
We’re saving our own lives,
Its true, we make better days,
just you and me.

We are the world, we are the children,
We are the ones to make a brighter day,
So let’s start giving.
There’s a choice we’re making,
We’re saving our own lives,
Its true, we make better days,
just you and me.

It’s true we make better days,

SOLO
Just you and me.

Jabula Jesu
Sithi jabula, Jesu, jabula. Wake up in the moonlight singing.

Sithi thandaza, Solly thandaza. Heaven is a waiting for you,

The sun is retreating. My whole heart is beating. No Jesu jabul, no Jesu.

The daylight is dying, My whole heart is crying. Weh Solly thandaza Solly.

Lalela!

Sithi jabula, Jesu, jabula, Heaven is a waiting for you,

Sithi thandaza, Solly thandaza. Wake up in the moonlight singing!

Christmas with Citi Choir

A maiden most gentle
listen
ALL: A maiden most gentle and tender we sing
Of Mary the mother of Jesus our King
Ave, Ave, Ave Maria.
Ave, Ave, Ave Maria.

How blest is the birth of her heavenly child
Who came to redeem us in Mary so mild
Ave, Ave, Ave Maria.
Ave, Ave, Ave Maria.

MEN only: The archangel Gabriel foretold by his call
The Lord of creation and Saviour of all.

ALL: Ave, Ave, Ave Maria.
Ave, Ave, Ave Maria.

MEN only: Three kings came to worship with gifts rich and rare
And marveled in awe at the babe in her care

ALL: Ave, Ave, Ave Maria.
Ave, Ave, Ave Maria.

ALL: Rejoice and be glad at this Christmas we pray
Sing praise to the Savior, sing endless Amen
Ave, Ave, Ave Maria.
Ave, Ave, Ave Maria.

Ave, Ave, Ave Maria.
Ave, Ave, Ave Maria.

Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas

Have yourself a merry little Christmas,
Let your heart be light.
From now on our troubles will be out of sight.
Have yourself a merry little Christmas
Make the Yuletide gay.
From now on our troubles will be miles away.

Here we are as in olden days
Happy golden days of yore.
Faithful friends who are dear to us
Gather near to us once more.

Through the years we all will be together
If the fates allow.
Hang a shining star upon the highest bough
And have your self a merry little Christmas…
A merry Christmas
A merry Christmas now.

Joy to the World
Joy to the world! The Lord is come,
Let earth receive her King.
Let every heart prepare him room,
And heaven and nature sing (repeat last line)

Joy to the world! The Saviour reigns.
Let men their songs employ,
While field and floods, rocks, hills and plains
Repeat the sounding joy (repeat)

He rules the world with truth and grace,
And makes the nations prove
The glories of His righteousness,
And wonders of his love (repeat)

O Little Town of Bethlehem
O little town of Bethlehem
How still we see thee lie!
Above thy deep and dreamless sleep
The silent stars go by,
Yet in thy dark streets shineth
The everlasting light,
The hopes and fears of all the years
Are met in thee tonight.

O morning stars together
Proclaim the holy birth
And praises sing to God the King
And peace to men on earth.
For Christ is born of Mary
And gathered all above,
While mortals sleep the angels keep
Their watch of wondering love.

How silently, how silently,
The wondrous gift is given;
So God imparts to human hearts
The blessings of His Heaven.
No ear may hear His coming,
But in this world of sin,
Where meek souls will receive Him still,
The dear Christ enters in.

O holy Child of Bethlehem,
Descend to us, we pray!
Cast out our sin and enter in,
Be born in us today.
We hear the Christmas angels,
The great glad tidings tell;
O come to us, abide with us,
Our Lord Emmanuel!

Additional carols for school and Lucy Brown House

It came upon a midnight clear
It came upon a midnight clear,
That glorious song of old,
From angels bending near the earth
To touch their harps of gold:
‘Peace on the earth, good-will to men,
From heaven’s all gracious King!’
The world in solemn stillness lay
To hear the angels sing

Still through the cloven skies they come,
With peaceful wings unfurled;
And still their heavenly music floats
O’er all the weary world;
Above its sad and lowly plains
They bend on hovering wing;
And ever o’er its Babel sounds
The blessèd angels sing

Yet with the woes of sin and strife
The world has suffered long;
Beneath the angel-strain have rolled
Two thousand years of wrong;
And man, at war with man, hears not
The love-song which they bring:
O hush the noise, ye men of strife,
And hear the angels sing!

For lo! the days are hastening on,
By prophet bards foretold,
When, with the ever-circling years,
Comes round the age of gold;
When peace shall over all the earth
Its ancient splendours fling,
And the whole world give back the song
Which now the angels sing.

Once in Royal David’s City
Once in royal Davids city,
Stood a lowly cattle shed,
Where a mother laid her Baby,
In a manger for His bed:
Mary was that mother mild,
Jesus Christ, her little Child.

He came down to earth from heaven,
Who is God and Lord of all,
And His shelter was a stable,
And His cradle was a stall:
With the poor, and mean, and lowly,
Lived on earth our Saviour holy.

For He is our childhood’s pattern;
Day by day, like us, He grew;
He was little, weak, and helpless,
Tears and smiles, like us He knew;
And He cares when we are sad,
And he shares when we are glad.

And our eyes at last shall see Him,
Through His own redeeming love;
For that Child so dear and gentle,
Is our Lord in heaven above:
And He leads His children on,
To the place where He is gone.

Hark the Herald Angels Sing
Hark! The herald-angels sing,
Glory to the new-born King!
Peace on earth, and mercy mild,
God and sinners reconciled.”
Joyful, all you nations, rise,
Join the triumph of the skies;
With the angelic host proclaim:
“Christ is born in Bethlehem!”
Hark! The herald-angels sing,
“Glory to the new-born King!”

Christ, by highest heaven adored,
Christ, the everlasting Lord,
Late in time behold Him come,
Offspring of a virgin’s womb!
Veiled in flesh the Godhead see!
Hail, the incarnate Deity!
Pleased as man with man to dwell,
Jesus, our Immanuel.
Hark! The herald-angels sing,
“Glory to the new-born King!”

Hail, the heaven-born Prince of Peace!
Hail, the Sun of Righteousness!
Light and life to all He brings,
Risen with healing in His wings.
Mild He lays His glory by,
Born that man no more may die;
Born to raise the sons of earth,
Born to give them second birth,
Hark! The herald-angels sing,
“Glory to the new-born King!”

Auditions!

Choir auditions are open to anyone in year 4, 5 or 6 this term, and some exciting Christmas performances are already being planned!

If you would like to audition, please come prepared to sing the first verse of either:
* When a Knight Won His Spurs, or
* Light Up the Fire.

Here are the words to practise. You will be able to read from the slides during your audition and sing with the piano/recording.

Colours of day dawn into the mind,
The sun has come up, the night is behind.
Go down in the city, into the street,
And let’s give the message to the people we meet.
So light up the fire and let the flame burn,
Open the door, let Jesus return.
Take seeds of his spirit, let the fruit grow,
Tell the people of Jesus, let his love show.

When a knight won his spurs in the stories of old,
He was gentle and brave, he was gallant and bold.
With a shield on his arm and a lance in his hand,
For God and for valour he rode through the land.

Your teacher will let you know when your audition will take place.

Singing games and ostinatos

An ostinato is a repeating musical phrase. Try using parts of the pentatonic song to make your own. A four-beat phrase would work well in this song:

Here’s a pentatonic scale you know,
Uses five notes so la mi re do.
Do do re re mi so la so mi,
Pentatonic works in harmony.

Here’s a pentatonic scale you see,
Uses five notes, no fa no ti.
Do do re re mi so la so mi,
Pentatonic works in harmony.

See if you can think up a clapping game for the song we learnt at the end of this week’s rehearsal:
Dum dum dada dada dum dum dadaa
Dum dum dada dada dum dum dada dada
Dum dum dada dada dum dum dadaa
Dum dum dada dada dum dum dum.

Thank you Tito and Heidi for teaching us Taniwha:

One day a taniwha
Went swimming in the moana
He whispered in my taringa
“Why won’t you come with me
There’s such a lot to see
Underneath the deep blue sea.”

I said “Oh, no, no, no!
I have to go, go, go,
Although we’ll always be good friends.
My Mother’s waiting for me
Underneath the kowhai tree
Taniwha, haere ra!”

(I think ‘wh’ is pronounced like ‘f’ in this song)

Summer Term – International Week

Scarborough Fair
All: Are you going to Scarborough Fair?
Parlsey, sage, rosemary and thyme.
Remember me to one who lives there,
She was once a true love of mine.

Adults: Tell her to make me a cambric shirt
Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme.
Without no seams or needlework
Then she’ll be a true love of mine.

All: Tell her to find me an acre of land
Parsely, sage, rosemary and thyme
Between the salt water and the sea strand,
Then she’ll be a true love of mine.

Tell her to reap it in a sickle of leather
Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme
And to gather it all in a bunch of heather
Then she’ll be a true love of mine.

Are you going to Scarborough Fair?
Parlsey, sage, rosemary and thyme.
Remember me to one who lives there,
She was once a true love of mine.
She was once a true love of mine.

Spring Term Lyrics

Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree,
Merry merry king of the bush is he,
Laugh, Kookaburra, laugh, Kookaburra,
Sing your song for me.
(REPEAT and start round)

Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree,
Eating all the gumdrops he can see,
Wait, Kookaburra, wait, Kookaburra,
Leave some there for me.

Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree,
Counting all the monkeys he can see,
Stop, kookaburra, stop kookaburra,
That’s not a monkey, that’s me.

My paddle’s keen and bright,
Flashing with silver.
Follow the wild goose flight,
Dip dip and swing.

Land of the silver birch,
Home of the beaver,
Where still the mighty moose
Wanders at will.
Blue lake and rocky shore,
I will return once more,
Boom diddy ah dah
Boom diddy ah dah
Boom diddy ah dah
Boom.

Zip-a-dee-doo-dah, zip-a-dee-ay
My, oh my, what a wonderful day
Plenty of sunshine headin’ my way
Zip-a-dee-doo-dah, zip-a-dee-ay

Mister Bluebird’s on my shoulder
It’s the truth, it’s actual
Ev’rything is satisfactual
Zip-a-dee-doo-dah, zip-a-dee-ay
Wonderful feeling, wonderful day
(REPEAT)

I got rhythm

I got rhythm,
I got music,
I got my friends,
Who could ask for anything more?
I got daisies,
In green pastures,
I got my friends,
Who could ask for anything more?

Old Man Trouble,
I don’t mind him.
You won’t find him,
Round my door.

I got starlight,
I got sweet dreams,
I got my friends,
Who could ask for anything more,
Who could ask for anything more?

Days can be sunny with never a sigh,
Don’t need what money can buy.
Birds in the tree sing their dayful of song,
Why shouldn’t we sing along?

I’m chipper all the day,
Happy with my lot.
How do I get that way?
Look at what I’ve got:

I got rhythm,
I got music,
I got my friends,
Who could ask for anything more?
I got daisies,
In green pastures,
I got my friends,
Who could ask for anything more?

Old Man Trouble,
I don’t mind him.
You won’t find him,
Round my door.

I got starlight,
I got sweet dreams,
I got my friends,
Who could ask for anything more,
Who could ask for anything more?

Molly Malone

In Dublin’s fair city,
Where the girls are so pretty,
I first set my eyes on sweet Molly Malone,
As she wheeled her wheelbarrow,
Through streets broad and narrow,
Singing, “Cockles and mussels, alive, alive, oh!”
“Alive, alive, oh,
Alive, alive, oh,”
Singing “Cockles and mussels, alive, alive, oh”.

She was a fishmonger,
And that was no wonder,
For so were her father and mother before,
And they both wheeled their barrows,
Through streets broad and narrow,
Singing, “Cockles and mussels, alive, alive, oh!”
(chorus)

She died of a fever,
And no one could save her,
And that was the end of sweet Molly Malone.
Now her ghost wheels her barrow,
Through streets broad and narrow,
Crying, “Cockles and mussels, alive, alive, oh!”

Mega Carol Group A (1)

September 2015

Well done to choir for such a positive first rehearsal! Here are the lyrics for Sing With Joy. There are three parts in this song; we may learn the third so I have included the words below.

Melody 1:
Sing with joy in the morning time,
Sing with joy at night.
Sing when the sun begins to rise
And when the stars are bright.

Sing with joy for the life you lead,
Sing with all your might.
Sing for the candle in the dark
That leads you to the light.

Melody 2:
Sing, sing, sing.
Come on and sing, sing, sing my friends.
Sing, sing, sing,
Sing, sing, sing. (Come on and hear me)

Melody 3:
Sing, oh sing, oh sing,
Yes sing my friends.
Sing, oh sing,
Sing, sing, sing.

Here are the lyrics for The Bare Necessities (harmony lines are in brackets):

Look for the bare necessities,
The simple bare necessities
Forget about your worries and your strife! (Worries and strife.)
I mean the bare necessities,
Old Mother Nature’s recipes
That bring the bare necessities of life. (Ba dum ba dum bam.)

Wherever I wander, wherever I roam, (Bare necessities x4)
I couldn’t be fonder of my big home.
The bees are buzzing in the trees to make some honey just for me. (Bzzz.)
When you look under the rocks and plants (bap. Bap. Oo-ooh.)
And take a glance at the fancy ants
And maybe try a few,
The bare necessities of life will come to you!

Look for the bare necessities,
The simple bare necessities
Forget about your worries and your strife! (Worries and Strife.)
I mean the bare necessities,
That’s why a bear can rest at ease,
With just the bare necessities of life. (Ba dum ba dum bam.)

Now, when you pick a paw-paw, or a prickly pear
Then you prick a raw paw, next time beware!
Don’t pick a prickly pear by the paw,
When you pick a pear try to use the claw!
But you don’t need to use the claw when you pick a pear of the big paw-paw,
Have I given you a clue?
The bare necessities of life will come to you!

Look for the bare necessities, the simple bare necessities
Forget about your worries and your strife! (Worries and strife.)
I mean the bare necessities,
That’s why a bear can rest at ease,
With just the bare necessities of life! (Ba dum ba dum bam.)

If you have any suggestions for songs you would like to sing in choir, please post them here and I will see what is possible. I look forward to reading your ideas!

Songs from Matilda

Naughty

Jack and Jill, went up the hill
To fetch a pail of water, so they say
Their subsequent fall was inevitable
They never stood a chance, they were written that way
Innocent victims of their story!

Like Romeo and Juliet
T’was written in the stars before they even met
That love and fate, and a touch of stupidity
Would rob them of their hope of living happily
The endings are often a little bit gory
I wonder why they didn’t just change their story?
We’re told we have to do as we’re told but surely
Sometimes you have to be a little bit naughty.

Just because you find that life’s not fair it
Doesn’t mean that you just have to grin and bear it
If you always take it on the chin and wear it
Nothing will change.

Even if you’re little, you can do a lot, you
Mustn’t let a little thing like, ‘little’ stop you
If you sit around and let them get on top, you
Might as well be saying
You think that it’s ok
And that’s not right!

Cinderella, in the cellar
Didn’t have to do much as far as I can tell
Her Godmother, was two thirds fairy
Suddenly her lot was a lot less scary
But what if you haven’t got a fairy to fix it?
Sometimes you have to make a little bit of mischief.

And if it’s not right!
You have to put it right!

In the slip of a bolt, there’s a tiny revolt.
The seed of a war in the creak of a floorboard.
A storm can begin, with the flap of a wing.
The tiniest mite packs the mightiest sting!
Every day, starts with the tick of a clock.
All escapes, start with the click of a lock!
If you’re stuck in your story and want to get out
You don’t have to cry, you don’t have to shout!

‘Cause if you’re little you can do a lot, you
Mustn’t let a little thing like, ‘little’ stop you
If you sit around and let them get on top, you
Won’t change a thing!

Just because you find that life’s not fair, it
Doesn’t mean that you just have to grin and bear it!
If you always take it on the chin and wear it
You might as well be saying
You think that it’s ok
And that’s not right!
And if it’s not right!
You have to put it right!

But nobody else it gonna put it right for me!
Nobody but me is gonna change my story!
Sometimes you have to be a little bit naughty!

School Song

My Mummy says I’m a miracle!
My Daddy says I’m his special little guy!
I am a Princess
And I am a Prince
Mum says I’m an angel
Mum says I’m an angel
Mum says I’m an angel
So you think you’re able (A-ble)
To survive this mess by being a Prince or a Princess (B-ing)
You will soon see (C)
There’s no escaping tragedy (trage-D)
And even (E-ven)
If you put in heaps of effort (F-ort)
You’re just wasting energy (ener-G)
‘Cause your life as you know it is ancient history (H-ent)
I, have suffered in this jail (I and J-l)
I’ve been trapped inside this cage for ages (K-ge)
This living ‘ell (L)
But if I try I can remember (rem-M-ber)
Back before my life had ended (N-ded)
Before my happy days were over (O-ver)
Before I first heard the pealing of the bell (P-ling)
Like you I was curious (Q-rious)
So innocent I asked a thousand questions (R-sked)
But unless you want to suffer listen up (unl-S)
And I will teach you, a thing or two (T-ch)
You listen here, my dear (U)
You’ll be punished so severely (se-Vre-ly)
If you step out of line, and if you cry, it will be double, you should stay out of trouble (W)
And remember to be extremely careful (X-tremely)
Why? (Y)
Why? Did you hear what he said?
Just you wait for Phys-ed (Phy-Z)
What’s Phys-ed?
Physical Education!
My Mummy says I’m a miracle!
My Daddy said I would be the teacher’s pet!
School is really fun, according to my mum.
Dad said I would learn the alphabet
The alphabet!? You better learn to listen kid!
So you think you’re able (A-ble)
To survive this mess by being a Prince or a Princess (B-ing)
You will soon see (C)
There’s no escaping tragedy (trage-D)
And even (E-ven)
If you put in heaps of effort (F-ort)
You’re just wasting energy (ener-G)
‘Cause your life as you know it is ancient history (H-ent)
I, have suffered in this jail (I and J-l)
I’ve been trapped inside this cage for ages (K-ge)
This living ‘ell (L)

Miracle

(Girls) My mummy says I’m a miracle
(Boys) My daddy says I’m his special little guy
(Girls) I am a princess
(Boys) And I am a prince
(All) Mum says I’m an angel sent down from the sky
(Boys) My daddy says I’m his special little soldier,
No one is as handsome, strong as me.
It’s true he indulges my tendency to bulge.
But I’m his little soldier!
(All) Hop, 2-4-3!
My mummy says I’m a miracle
One look at my face, and it’s plain to see.
Ever since the day doc chopped the umbilical cord,
It’s been clear there’s no peer for a miracle like me!
My daddy says I’m his special little soldier.
No one is as bold or tough as me.
Has my daddy told you,
One day when I’m older,
I can be a soldier
And shoot you in the face!

(Adult choir) One can hardly move for beauty and brilliance these days.
It seems that there are millions of these one-in-a-millions
these days
Special-ness seems de rigueur
Above average is average – go figure
Is it is come modern miracle of calculus,
That such frequent miracles don’t render each one un-
miraculous.

(All) My mummy says I’m a miracle
One look at my face, and it’s plain to see.
Ever since the day doc chopped the umbilical cord,
It’s been clear there’s no peer for a miracle like me!
(Girls) My mummy says I’m a precious barrelina.
She has never seen a prettier barrelina
She says if I’m keen, I have to cut down on the cream,
But I’m a barrelina, so give me more cake!

(Adult choir) Take another photo of our angel in that costume that I made
The role of tree has never been portrayed with such
convincing sway
That’s right, honey, look at mummy!
Don’t put honey on your brother
Smile for mummy; smile for mother!
I think she blinked
Well, take another!
Have you seen his school report? He got a ‘C’ on his
report
What?!
We’ll have to change his school. His teacher’s clearly
falling short.
She’s just delightful.
So hilarious and
Insightful.
Might she be a little brighter than the norm?
I know to boys it’s frightful form!

(All) My mummy says I’m a miracle
One look at my face, and it’s plain to see.
Ever since the day doc chopped the umbilical cord,
It’s been clear there’s no peer for a miracle like me!
My mummy says I’m a miracle
That I’m as tiny and as shiny as a mirror ball.
You can be all cynical, but it’s a truth empirical.
There’s never been a miracle, a miracle, a miracle as me!

January 2015

Well done Choir for the first rehearsals of the year. You should be very proud of what you have achieved already, keep it up!

Here are the lyrics for Believe. We will begin looking at the other verses in the coming weeks, so do your best to memorise the words.

Believe

Verse 1
When I look up to the stars,
There’s a burning deep inside me
And I feel a power growing in my soul.
There is something I can sense,
Deep within a dream to guide me,
And I know that I am reaching for my goal.

Chorus
I can do anything at all,
I can climb the highest mountain,
I can feel the ocean calling wid and free.
I can be anything I want
With this hope to drive me onward,
If I can just believe in me.

Verse 2
When the skies are dark and grey,
We still know the sun is shining:
Though it’s out of sight,
Its light is glowing still.
And as long as I believe,
There is nothing I can’t wish for;
Not a dream that I’m unable to fulfill.

Chorus

Bridge
And whatever it takes I’ll find it somehow;
Whatever it needs I’ll show I’m strong.
Whatever it takes I’ll make it happen:
Finding out where I belong.

Verse 3
While the world is spinning round,
I can sometimes lose direction
And I know how hard it is to find my way.
But with friends around to care,
There is nothing I can’t handle,
And I’ll face the future treasuring each day.

Chorus

Well done to the new school choir! You have made a very impressive start to the term, keep up the good work.

Here is a recording of the extended descant for From Heaven You Came. Listen out for the main differences – a longer first and second phrase, and the words “the servant king” sung at the same time as the main melody. Try singing along to memorise the part for next rehearsal.

Here are the lyrics for ‘A Whole New World’. Enjoy singing through them at home! Why not give a performance to your family?

    A Whole New World

I can show you the world,
Shining, shimmering, splendid.
Tell me princess, now when did you last
Let your heart decide.

I can open your eyes,
Take you wonder by wonder
Over, sideways and under
On a magic carpet ride.

A whole new world
A new fantastic point of view
No one to tell us no or where to go
Or say we’re only dreaming.

A whole new world
A dazzling place I never knew.
But when I’m way up here it’s crystal clear
That now I’m in a whole new world with you.

Unbelievable sights
Indescribable feeling
Soaring, toppling, freewheeling
Through an endless diamond sky.

A whole new world
A hundred thousand things begin.
I’m like a shooting star, I’ve come so far
I can’t go back I’m in…

I whole new world
With new horizons to pursue
I’ll chase them anywhere, there’s time to spare
Let me share this whole new world with you.

A whole new world
That’s where we’ll be.
A thrilling chase, a wond’rous place
For you and me.

Choir are now preparing for International Evening! We have started learning two songs – Sakura (a Japanese song celebrating cherry blossom) and Nanuma (a traditional Ghanaian song).

Here are the lyrics for you to learn, choir (they’re a challenge this time but we know you can do it!)

      Sakura

    Sakura, sakura
    Noyama mo sato mo
    Miwatasu kagiri
    Kasumi ka kumo ka
    Asahi ni niou
    Sakura, sakura
    Hana zakari.

    (translation)
    Cherry blossoms, cherry blossoms,
    Blanketing the countryside,
As far as you can see.
Is it a mist, or clouds?
    Fragrant in the morning sun.
    Cherry blossoms, cherry blossoms,
    Flowers in full bloom.

      Nanuma

    Nanuma wyee ay, nanuma.
    Nanuma wyee ay, nanuma.
    Nanuma wyee ay, nanuma.
    Nanuma wyee ay, nanuma.

The choir will be performing a concert of songs from musicals in the near future, and are busy learning the lyrics and rehearsing together.
Below are the lyrics for them to do some extra practise at home! Keep working hard choir – you’re sounding great!

    Supercalifragilistic
    Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious,
Even though the sounds of it is something quite atrocious,
If you say it loud enough, you’ll always sound precocious,
    Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.

    Um diddle-iddle-iddle, um diddle ay,
    Um diddle-iddle-iddle, um diddle ay.

Because I was afraid to speak when I was just a lad,
My father gave me nose a tweak and told me I was bad.
But then one day I learned a word that saved me achin’ nose,
The biggest word I’d ever heard, and this is how it goes:

    Oh!

    Chorus

He travelled all around the world and ev’rywhere he went,
He’d use his word and all would say, ‘There goes a clever gent!’
When dukes and ma’arajas pass the time of day with me,
I say me special word and then they ask me out to tea.

    Oh!

    Chorus

So when the cat has got your tongue, there’s no need to dismay,
Just summon up this word and then you’ve got a lot to say.
But better use it carefully or it can change your life,
One night I said it to me girl and now me girl’s me wife!

    She’s

    Chorus

    Consider Yourself

    Consider yourself at home,
Consider yourself one of the family.
We’ve taken to you so strong,
It’s clear we’re going to get along!

    Consider yourself well in,
Consider yourself part of the furniture.
    There isn’t a lot to spare;
Who cares? Whatever we’ve got we share!

If it should chance to be we should see some harder days,
    Empty larder days, why grouse?
Always a chance we’ll meet somebody to foot the bill,
Then the drinks are on the house!

    Consider yourself our mate,
We don’t want to have no fuss,
For after some consideration, we can state:
    Consider yourself one of us.

    Consider yourself at home,
Consider yourself one of the family.
We’ve taken to you so strong,
It’s clear we’re going to get along!

    Consider yourself well in,
Consider yourself part of the furniture.
    There isn’t a lot to spare;
Who cares? Whatever we’ve got we share!

Nobody tries to be lah-di-dah and uppity,
    There’s a cup o’ tea for all,
Only it’s wise to be handy wiv a rolling pin,

When the landlord comes to call!
    Consider yourself our mate,
We don’t want to have no fuss,
For after some consideration, we can state:
    Consider yourself one of us.

    Edelweiss

    Edelweiss, edelweiss,
    Every morning you greet me.
Small and white, clean and bright,
You look happy to meet me.
Blossom of snow, may you bloom and grow,
    Bloom and grow forever.
    Edelweiss, edelweiss,
    Bless my homeland forever.
