[heading]Merry Christmas[/heading]

Dear Parents,

I hope this newsletter finds you all well. In this final newsletter of the year, I would like to highlight the school community's work in the lead-up to Christmas, bring to your attention some news about next academic year and inform you of three recent awards for the school.

Christmas Preparations

The children here at school have been enjoying the run up to Christmas, in assembly we have been exploring Christmas and advent themes, the Year 5 Christmas worship at Southwark Cathedral was a triumph and the Nursery and Reception children treated pupils, parents and staff to a beautiful nativity.

Certificate Background

We are very proud of these achievements and will write to you with further details in the new year.

St George’s CofE Primary School

After discussions with St. Georges CofE Primary School and with the local authority and Southwark Diocesan Board of Education, from January, Cathedral School will be working in partnership with St George’s.

We will keep you up-to-date as this partnership develops. It will mean that for the next half term, the majority of Mr Scott and Mr Rojas's time will spent be leading the team at St George’s.

Mr Scott’s existing teaching commitments in Year 6 will be covered by Mrs Rees, Assistant Headteacher and Literacy Leader.

The day-to-day leadership team at Cathedral School will continue to be Mrs Scott, Mrs Rees and Miss Godsell.

Have a wonderful Christmas

I would like to take this opportunity to wish everybody a Merry Christmas and a peaceful 2017 from all of the staff here at Cathedral School.

Best wishes,

Mrs Scott
Headteacher

Cathedral School children are encouraged to come to the Cathedral Crib Service at 4pm on Christmas Eve and to dress up as a Shepherd, Wise Man/Woman or Angel and join in with the story as it is told through readings, carols and actions. Do come along with your family, friends and neighbours. The service will last about 45 minutes. Everyone is very welcome!

[box title="Merry Christmas from Cathedral Tots" color="#0D83DD"]

ct1

ct2 Cathedral Tots runs in the school hall on Wednesday mornings between 9.30 and 10.15. We've welcomed lots of new faces this term as last year's children have moved up to the nursery, new families have joined the school and siblings have been born. Our youngest attendee is 4 months old and our oldest is three and a half. It's a lovely opportunity for children to play and socialise in a nice, warm, friendly environment and for parents to get to know each other. Please come along with your pre-school child or ask your carer to bring them.

Thank you so much if you have donated toys and books for Cathedral Tots. If you are having a clear out we'd welcome any toys and puzzles for younger children.

Happy Christmas from baby Astrid and all the other Cathedral Tots.
