Issue #24 – 19/05/2017 – Eastertide Service

[heading]Eastertide Service[/heading]

Dear Parents,

This morning Class 5 led our Eastertide worship at Southwark Cathedral. They read two passages from the Bible which describe Jesus appearing to the disciples in the days and weeks following the resurrection. Class 5 then shared the thoughts and prayers they had written based on the readings they had studied.

Everybody thought that Class 5 were so confident and composed during the service. The children impressed the congregation with their thoughtful reflections and prayers.

Here are some of Class 5′s reflections on Luke 24: 13-35, On the Road to Emmaus:

I think that this passage means; look out for Jesus because he is everywhere. Do not doubt the Lord – believe him because he died for everyone. My interpretation is that Jesus is the King of Kings and will always forgive you. Marissa

This reading made me think about who we are and what Jesus did for us. It made me think about what we see and I have realised that we will have a limited view of the things around us if we lock ourselves away. Ella

This passage means to me, that Jesus will always be with us, and will never leave. Luke

This reminds me that Jesus will always forgive you – no matter what you do. It also means that he will care for you. Oscar

Here are some of Class 5′s reflections on John 20: 24-29, Jesus Appears to Thomas:

I think that this passage is saying that you must not always ask for proof about Jesus – you must just believe. I thought about how a lot of the time we ask for proof – but the topic of Jesus doesn’t require proof. Lauren

I learnt from this passage that to believe, you do not have to see, but just have faith. When the disciples told Thomas about how they saw Jesus, Thomas did not believe until he had proof. He learnt that Jesus would be with him no matter what, and so did I. Daniela

Even though you can’t see Jesus, you should know that he is always by your side. Always have faith in God, no matter what happens in your life, he will be there. Deanna

Finally Class 5 shared the prayers that they had written.

Dear Lord,

Thank you Lord that we have the opportunity to be together and pray. Thank you Lord for bringing everyone to the cathedral safely. Please guide everyone home safely as well. Thank you for answering our prayers.

Amen

Dear God,

Thank you for Jesus and please let us remember what he told us. Please help us believe without seeing. Please help us follow in the right path of life.

Amen

By Samuel

Thank you Class 5 and Father Michael for a beautiful service.

Wishing you a lovely weekend from all at Cathedral School,

Best wishes,

Mrs Scott
