Helping Dogger get home

Nursery have been looking after Dogger since he turned up at nursery feeling very cold and wet, having got lost again.

We decided to help him find the way home by building and labelling maps for Dogger to follow.

The children added local landmarks like the Shard and Tower Bridge, and even a handy “short cut” to help Dogger on his way.

Our new class text

This term, our class text is Dogger by Shirley Hughes.

We have just found out that Dave has lost his favourite toy Dogger, but we don’t know where he will turn up. Perhaps it will be somewhere very unexpected!

We are creating our own school fair in the nursery playground, just like the one at Bella’s school. It has a ticket stall, sweet and cake shops, Hook-a-Duck and a teddy’s photo booth. Here are some photos of what we have done so far. If you have any more ideas for Nursery’s fair, please write a comment on this post!

Arts Week

For Arts Week this week, each class made different kinds of portraits. Nursery made self-portraits, thinking about where all our features belong, and looking in the mirror to make sure the portraits were accurate. Here are the results!

We also made shiny picture frames after looking at a painting by Gustav Klimt.

Klimt used lots of repeating patterns, gold and vibrant colours in his art. Watch this video to explore his painting ‘The Tree of Life’:
