We are currently working on practical addition in nursery, with a little help from our fairy tale theme!
This week, we are adding different coloured mattresses on the Princess and the Pea’s bed. Last week, we added up different amounts of dragon’s treasure. Here are some photos of some members of nursery using the adding resources independently.
For parents: Begin by supporting your child to recognise numerals, and to be able to choose the correct number of objects to match each numeral. When they can do this confidently, children can then begin to add two groups of objects by counting all of them.
These activities are fantastic! I love the princess and the pea beds – so cute. What a fantastic way to get the kids adding and subtracting – I’m so impressed!
