Our Spring Assembly!

Wow! What a performance!

Reception did a fantastic performance in their assembly on Tuesday morning. They all knew their lines, spoke clearly and sang beautifully (so beautifully that some parents had tears in their eyes!).

Thank you to all of the parents who came to watch the performance. From the comments that Miss Godsell and Sara heard, it was enjoyed by everyone!

Here are some videos of the wonderful performance.

This is Reception thinking about creatures that live under the sea.

In this video, we think about all the things we are thankful for.

Sing Up Day

Last Wednesday at Cathedral School it was Sing Up Day! This meant that it was a day full of music and singing. We sang the Register, sang as we walked in and out to break time and lots of other fun activities!

In the afternoon we had a special assembly where every class sang a song. We sang ‘It’s a lovely day’. It was written by Irving Berlin and was published in 1950. It is from the musical Call Me Madam. Doris Day is one of the most famous performers of the song.

Sing Up day was indeed a lovely day!

World Book Day!

Wow! What a day we have had!
We all looked fantastic in our costumes!
Have a look at what we dressed up as – do you recognise the characters?

The Wonderful World of Dragons – Book Week in Reception

After an exciting assembly this morning where we found out dragons had been spotted in America, we were amazed to return to our classroom to find that they have even visited Cathedral School! Amazingly, a dragon has made a nest in our classroom with four eggs in.

We thought about what might hatch out of the eggs, and because they are all different colours, shapes and sizes that it might be different kinds of dragons! We thought about things that we might have to do to look after the eggs. We came up with the following:
– Keep the eggs warm
– Don’t move or hit the eggs
– Say kind words around the eggs (that way kind dragons will hatch)
– Keep the eggs dry
– Make sure there is food for when they hatch

We were even more amazed when Class 1 came in and told us that outside they had found some evidence of dragons! We rushed out and found that indeed outside there were eggs, dragon skin and slime!

We are going to spend the week investigating and learning about dragons – please let us know if you see any evidence of dragon activity!
