Friendship Soup

This week, Reception have been thinking about how to be great friends. We all spoke about things that help us be friends and then we made a soup. Not just any soup – a friendship soup!
We put in ingredients that we thought made us better friends.

Here is our recipe:
– A cup of kind words
– A dash of caring
– A spoonful of kindness
– A pinch of love
– A sprinkle of sharing
– A teaspoon of truth
– A lot of listening

What would you put in your friendship soup?

Curriculum Evening

Thank you to all the parents who came along to this years Curriculum Evening.

Here is the slide show which contains some information and ideas of things to do at home.

Also, here is a video of some Cathedral School Children showing how to correctly say our sounds.

We’ve been very busy!

We have had a very busy couple of weeks in Reception. As a result, our display boards have started to fill up! Here are a few of them!

OUR CLASS CHARTER
As a Rights Respecting School, its important that we have a class charter to show our rights and then our rights respecting actions to ensure we all have the rights. We made a rainbow with our hands – all 62 of them!

THE NICKLE NACKLE TREE
We have been practising counting and matching numbers to sets. Here is the Nickle Nackle Tree, based on a book by Lynley Dodd. It has groups of birds and then the numbers that match them!

HUG
We have started home reading and some of our books only have pictures to tell the story. We read one in class – ‘Hug’ by Jez Aldborough. We then told our own story to go with the pictures and Miss Godsell wrote it down for us, creating a fantastic story!
