Candlemas Service

Today Class 3 led our worship at Southwark Cathedral. They read the passage from the Bible which describes Jesus being presented at the temple, followed by some thoughtful and mature reflections on how Jesus is the light of the world. Finally Class 3 shared prayers with the congregation.

Thank you Class 3 and Father Andrew for a beautiful service.

Dear Lord

Give light to everyone in the world. Let everyone know that you are the big light. Thank you for my family that give me light. Light makes me feel warm so when I feel cold I will stand in light. With your light shining in me, I can be happy.

Amen

Sing Up Platinum Award

The term started very positively with news that Cathedral School have received the Sing-Up Platinum award. An assessor visited before Christmas to look at our music provision and in particular the opportunities children are given to develop their singing skills. She talked to children and staff, observed lessons, listened  to the choir sing and attended a dress rehearsal of Holy Joe.

Please see her feedback below:

I’m delighted to endorse The Cathedral School of St Saviour and St Mary Overy’s Platinum Award. It has been a pleasure to read your nomination report and it is clear that your Awards Verifier was very impressed by how well your school has placed singing at its heart. There is no doubt that singing is an important part of life at The Cathedral School.

The staff’s commitment to singing is admirable and it’s clear that there isn’t one singing leader at your school, but everyone leads singing. Different teachers are able to lead the choir or production rehearsals, highlighting the input from everyone to make The Cathedral a singing school!

Pupils are also given fantastic opportunities to witness professional singing and be involved in singing projects within the local community. There are brilliant links being created with your local secondary school and primary schools. Your singing school ethos is inspirational.

Congratulations to all at The Cathedral School. I hope you celebrate with song.
