Sports Day 2014

Thank you to children, staff, parents and governors for making Sports Day 2014 the best one ever! Events included relay races, javelin, egg and spoon race, sack race, hurdles, long jump and 50m sprint. Parents and teachers were inspired by the children and had their own races too.

What was your favourite part of the day and why?

  • Many thanks for organising such a great day for our children and for us parents as well. It was lovely to be out on the grass and fun games for the children. And as always, well organised and all the children seemed to really enjoy the day.

  • Sports Day was absolutely fantastic. It was a great venue and clearly a lot of thought had gone into organising it. The children looked like they were really enjoying themselves and got a lot from the day. Thank you to the staff at Cathedral School for making sport an important focus but at the same time keeping it fun and enjoyable for all.

  • I really enjoyed Sports Day my favourite thing was the wheel barrow race because me and Aisa won! But I also enjoyed the sack race even though I lost; because it was really fun but also challenging. Also my team gave me tips if I do the sack race next year! But I don’t think I will! It was a great experience and I hope we are able to do the same next year!

  • This was my favourite Sports Day we’ve had yet. My favourite part was the hurdles. Three things that makes it my favourite is that it was something that I hadn’t tried before, I won, and it was just so fun. One thing that I would suggest is to get some hurdles that are a bit taller.

  • From the pictures it looks like Sports Day has been great. If I was there I would’ve wanted to do all the activities to take part in all the fun, but especially the hurdles because I think it incorporates so many different skills like sprinting and jumping or the really races for the teamwork. All in all from the comments that I have heard I think it has been the best Sports Day ever and hopefully it can be just as good next year.

  • Sports Day 2014 rocked and that’s the main bit! But why? Well, there’s a lot of reasons! In my opinion I loved the hurdles because not only did I come joint first with another girl in my class, but the smoothness of the jumps from my fellow peers really showed they’d been trying hard! Big cheer for Cathedral School! I also liked the relay races; the teamwork couldn’t have been better!

  • I like the 50m sprint. With my Sprinting technique, I find the sport very enjoyable. I like it because I tried my best in it . I care about having fun being happy, encouraging my team in what I did on the day. It was the best time for me and my team.

  • This was the best Sports Day that we have done because we did it at Burgess Park. My favourite part was the javelin. I also liked the obstacle course.

  • Thanks to all the teachers who organised sports day. It was a wonderful and happy day that was enjoyed by the parents as much as the children.

  • In my opinion this was the best Sports Day not just because it was in Burgess Park also because of the excellent team work, the way everybody showed good sportsmanship and everyone enjoyed it more than ever. My favourite events were the 50m sprint because I know I’m fast but there were other fast people I was facing such as Nii and Vanessa they were really fast and were close to beating me; my other favourite sport was the relay race not just because it was also to do with athletics and being fast but it also showed how well you can work as a team and showing that it’s not about winning.

  • From the pictures, I thought that sports week was a lot of fun at Burgess park.If I was at Sports Day then I would’ve wanted to do the relay races the most because it shows that you should use your team work skills to help and encourage your team. I would also want to do the sack race because we have never done sack races before in sports day or sports week so it was a completely new experience doing it at sports week, I really enjoyed it.Although all the sports would be fun, I would’ve also wanted to do the obstacle courses too because you would be racing other people but also you be showing your skills.

  • This has to bee one of the best Sports Day ever. We all worked as a team and the best thing was that we all had fun and we all took part! I was in the very supportive Blue Team.
We went into class and we did our first lessons then we had to stop and get changed into our PE kits as well as eating our Lunch. We had to leave quite early so I didn’t get to finish my lunch but that didn’t bother me. We saw our coaches and went to the park. first Year 4 then Year 5 and then Year 6 and we also so Year 6 get into their coach. When we arrived we sat down with our other team members and played a really fun game together and then it was time to do our different activities first we did Javelin witch was really fun but the Red team won and then we did the fun challenging obstacle course and then last of all was the long jump. The first activities were really fun but it couldn’t get any better because we did relay races and our class races that we planned. We sat down and cheered our team on and we won quite a few races, our team gave me some tips of how I could win the 50 meter sprint and although I didn’t win my team were very proud of me. Then we did the teachers race which was quite funny then we did the parents race which was really funny. Then we ended Sports Day with a race which was so utterly fun!
My Day of Sports Day was outstanding!

  • That was the best sports day ever! Thank you all the teachers for planing it so well. My favourite bit was when me and Jordan did the 50m sprint and when I was racing Jeffrey and Alexus at the last second I jumped over the finish line and I felt really happy and joyfull that I did so well. My other bit was the parents race and the teachers race. It felt so strange how all the teachers ran so fast espessally Miss Hayfield. It would of been great to have Y1,Y2,Y3,Y4,Y5 and Year 6 all race and see which child crossed the finish line first. I loved every little bit of it because it was so amazing when I am older I will never forget the memory of Sports Day 2014.
