Choir Concert

Dear Parents,

The Cathedral School Choir will be holding a concert in the school hall on the 26th April at 3:30pm to which you are all invited.  This, however, will not be an ordinary concert as you will have the opportunity to join in with singing many of the songs! They will be simple, repetitive songs that are easy to learn but lots of fun to sing, and I’m sure you will all love being able to sing along with our talented children. Of course, the choir will also perform some more challenging songs which you will be able to sit back and enjoy!

Your child will receive a letter about the concert this week. If you would like to come along to the concert, please fill in the slip on the letter and return it to the office. There will be no tickets but I would like to have an idea of numbers.

I hope you’ll be able to make it – it should be a lot of fun!

 Best wishes

New Reading Scheme

New Reading Books

This week your child will be given a reading book from the new reading scheme. Here at Cathedral School we are very excited about these new books as they offer children an opportunity to read a wider range of books including graphic novels, non-fiction, traditional tales and classics.   One of the key features of every book is a guide inside the cover that will support parents in asking a range of questions to develop their child’s Higher Order Reading skills such as comprehension, deduction, inference  and retrieval, as well as word recognition.

We very much valued the feedback we received from children, governors, staff  and parents when we were considering changing our reading scheme and really hope that you and your child enjoy reading the new books and that they support your child in developing their reading skills alongside a lifelong enjoyment of reading.

Happy Easter

Dear Parents and Carers,

On behalf of all the staff at Cathedral School I would like to wish you a very happy Easter. It’s been a wonderful and thoroughly enjoyable term and we all hope you have a fantastic holiday.

I would also like to take this opportunity to invite you all to a Diamond Jubilee “Street Party” in the infant playground at lunchtime on Wednesday 30th May – more details to follow but please put the date in your diaries.

Best wishes,
