Summer 2 – Week 7

Stars of the week: All of Class 2

Well done Class 2 on a phenomenal year. It has been an absolute pleasure teaching you and Porsha and I have loved every minute. You are all set to be a hard-working, enthusiastic and dedicated year 3 class. Enjoy the summer break beforehand though – you deserve it!

Last week we made our raita dips. Now you have new cooking skills you can enjoy making your families more delicious foods over the summer.

Summer 2 – Week 6

Stars of the week: Betty & Maxwell

In English this week we wrote secret letters to Year 6 to wish them well in Secondary School and to thank them for being such amazing role models.

We were also lucky enough to have Mrs Chan in to do music with us too.

A HUGE thank you to the parents for setting up the Summer Carnival for us – we had so much fun!

Summer 2 – Week 5

Stars of the week: Samuel & Elena

This week we published our cat diaries. We done class 2 for working so hard on your handwriting – lots of children even managed to get their pen license!

In maths we have been consolidating our learning on 2D and 3D shapes.

We learnt all about grid references in geography and loved planning our own treasure maps and plotting features at certain grid references. Excellent use of locational compass language too, Class 2.

Summer 2 – Week 4

Stars of the week: Ava & Charlotte

Class 2 had a brilliant sports week. Well done for your team spirit and enthusiasm on Sports Day and our kickball tournament. We still have a morning of fitness activities to go!

We have been writing diaries inspired by the Dick King-Smith book ‘The Cat Lady’. Class 2 have been writing their diaries from the cats perspective and have been doing excellent drama to get into character.

We had Kroll, a company from the shard, come in to give all the children feedback on their super poems from poetry week. Every child got some personalised feedback from a member of Kroll staff. Well done to Lennon for winning the class award.

Summer 2 – Week 3

Stars of the week: All of Class 2

Wow Class 2! Your collective worship this week was sensational. You all worked so hard to learn your lines and lyrics. You also managed to bring your lines alive brilliantly by speaking with so much expression and through projecting your voices clearly.

We had a very successful Science day, carrying out multiple experiments and even experiencing a planetarium!

Summer 2 – Week 2

Stars of the week: Younis & Yoki

Well done Class 2 for working so hard on learning your lines for our collective worship – we are excited to share it with you on Tuesday.

In poetry week we created animal poems in the style of Neal Zetter. These are now published and we performed them to the class. We focused on expression, actions, projecting our voices and bringing our poems alive by changing our voices for onomatopoeias.

In computing we have been programmingBeebots. We used problem-solving to follow routes and experimented with the best routes to follow.

Summer 2 – Week 1

Stars of the week: Albert & Zein

We have had a brilliant Poetry Week and have been inspired by our visit from Neal Zetter on the last day of term. We looked at the features of Neal’s poem ‘Bats‘ and spotted the verbs, adjectives, onomatopoeias, repetition, interesting punctuation and alliteration. We have since been planning, writing and performing our own silly poems about an animal of our choice. We will be publishing our poems and sending them to the company Kroll in the shard, who will be giving us personalised feedback on them.

Summer 1 – Week 6

Stars of the week: Lola & Jacob W

We had a spectacular History Day on Wednesday and it was filled with The Tower of London learning.

In English we finished writing our recounts of the Tower of London, in maths we solved word problems and in the afternoon we used charcoal to draw ravens.

In art this week we sculpted our African mask designs into clay. Well done Class 2 for using the scratch, slip and blend method so carefully.

Summer 1 – Week 5

Stars of the week: All of Class 2

Well done Class 2 for a super week. You all showed so much enthusiasm towards the SATs and put in great amounts of effort. You also behaved beautifully during our school trip to the Tower of London. We learnt so much from our Castle Life workshop and explorations around the tower.
