Summer 2 – Week 2

Stars of the week: Younis & Yoki

Well done Class 2 for working so hard on learning your lines for our collective worship – we are excited to share it with you on Tuesday.

In poetry week we created animal poems in the style of Neal Zetter. These are now published and we performed them to the class. We focused on expression, actions, projecting our voices and bringing our poems alive by changing our voices for onomatopoeias.

In computing we have been programmingBeebots. We used problem-solving to follow routes and experimented with the best routes to follow.

Summer 2 – Week 1

Stars of the week: Albert & Zein

We have had a brilliant Poetry Week and have been inspired by our visit from Neal Zetter on the last day of term. We looked at the features of Neal’s poem ‘Bats‘ and spotted the verbs, adjectives, onomatopoeias, repetition, interesting punctuation and alliteration. We have since been planning, writing and performing our own silly poems about an animal of our choice. We will be publishing our poems and sending them to the company Kroll in the shard, who will be giving us personalised feedback on them.

Summer 1 – Week 6

Stars of the week: Lola & Jacob W

We had a spectacular History Day on Wednesday and it was filled with The Tower of London learning.

In English we finished writing our recounts of the Tower of London, in maths we solved word problems and in the afternoon we used charcoal to draw ravens.

In art this week we sculpted our African mask designs into clay. Well done Class 2 for using the scratch, slip and blend method so carefully.

Summer 1 – Week 5

Stars of the week: All of Class 2

Well done Class 2 for a super week. You all showed so much enthusiasm towards the SATs and put in great amounts of effort. You also behaved beautifully during our school trip to the Tower of London. We learnt so much from our Castle Life workshop and explorations around the tower.

Summer 1 – Week 4

Stars of the week: Miriam & Anusha

Class 2 finalised and performed their plant-inspired dances this week. They demonstrated excellent teamwork, incorporated a variety of moves and worked carefully on making their moves clear and sharp.

In Science, we have started observing our watercress and sunflower plants. There have been interesting discoveries which the class would love to tell you all about.

Summer 1 – Week 3

Stars of the week: Malique & Phoebe

This week in Class 2 we have been writing and publishing our stories. We re-told the story ‘Up and Down’ by Oliver Jeffers. Well done Class 2 on including interesting adjectives and verbs and challenging yourself by including speech, commas, possessive apostrophes, time connectives, conjunctions and exclamation marks. We look forward to sharing them with you.

We have also been planting seeds in science. We will be carrying out an experiment to see what conditions are needed to help plants grow. We will be tying in our maths by measuring the length of our plants as they grow.

Summer 1 – Week 2

Stars of the week: Justin & Rory

This week we have been immersing ourselves in our new learning topics for this half-term.

We started creating African safari landscapes in art using watercolours. Well done Class 2 for choosing and blending your colours so carefully.

In English we have been exploring the Oliver Jeffers book “Up and Down”. It has inspired some of our grammar learning on compound nouns and speech marks.

In Maths this week we have been learning about length. Please practise measuring items at home with a ruler. You can also estimate whether things are longer or shorter then 1metre.

Summer 1 – Week 1

Stars of the week: Arabella & Jacob A

Well done Class 2 for returning to school with so much enthusiasm and focus.

In maths this week we have been recapping our previous learning on partitioning numbers, making different amounts with coins and exploring different methods for subtraction.

Class 2 have enjoyed finding out our new learning topics for this half-term. Our new history topic is The Tower of London. We will be going on a school trip there on the 19th May.

Spring 2 – Week 6

Stars of the week: Heidi & Cruz

Well done Class 2 for learning the lyrics to the Easter play and for bringing such enthusiasm and professionalism to the rehearsals.

Last Friday we finished building our minibeast hotels and this week we evaluated them. Class 2 thought carefully about which natural materials they wanted to include. Whilst we were making them, we even had some minibeast visitors!
