Autumn 1 – Week 5

Stars of the Week: Marcia & Mason

This week, we have been doing some Maya-inspired artwork in the style of Georgia O’Keefe. We used oil pastels to create our own artwork based on Chichen Itza. We used bright colours to recreate the same style as Georgia O’Keefe.

Autumn 1 – Week 3

Stars of the Week: Astrid & Cruz

Last week, we went to Buckingham Palace for our first trip of the year. We walked along the Southbank so we could see lots of different landmarks. We saw Big Ben, The London Eye, St Paul’s Cathedral and The Houses of Parliament. Once we got to Buckingham Palace, we enjoyed our landscape drawing session.

Autumn 1 – Week 2

Stars of the Week: Rosa & Jacob

This week, we have been learning all about the different planets in our solar system. We created our own mnemonics to help us remember the order before we researched facts about them. Did you know that a year on Mercury is only 88 days, but a year on Neptune is 60,190 days – that’s 165 Earth years!

We also finalised our Class Charter which is now displayed proudly in class.

PE this half term is gymnastics, so we’re looking forward to working on our handstands and rolls!

Summer 2 – Week 4

Stars of the Week: Nifemi and Shia

This week, we continued reading the Tale of the Trojan War. We read about the death of Patroclus and how Achilles would have felt about losing his close friend. We took it in turns to hot seat as Achilles and interviewed him to find out how he felt. We will be writing these interviews into our English books in our next lesson.

Summer 2 – Week 3

Stars of the Week: All of Class 5

Class 5 have had a very special opportunity this week. They were invited to take part in a very special service that commemorated the Windrush on its 75th anniversary. Class 5 led all of the witness walkers down the cathedral carrying a wreath in the shape of an anchor. They were ambassadors for the school and behaved with such maturity throughout the whole event. Class 5 should be very proud of how they represented the school. (They even starred on BBC news!)

Summer 2 – Week 2

Stars of the Week: Carter and Joni

This week, Class 5 have been learning how to draw shapes in maths. They have mastered the art of using a protractor accurately and are going onto construct quadrilaterals with different lengths and angles.

To celebrate the Cleaner Air day, Class 5 were fortunate to get the chance to play out on Redcross Way. The road had been closed off so that the children could all run along the road, play games and draw using chalk. It was the perfect way to enjoy the absence of cars on the road!
