World Book Day 2020

Thank you for your support regarding Book Week, and thank you for the kind donations of books that we received during this week. Our library is growing rapidly! We hope you enjoyed hearing about all of the exciting learning that your child did last week. The theme of World Book Day this year was ‘share a story’ and at Cathedral School, we gave the children lots of opportunities to enjoy sharing stories.

Each year group had a ‘mystery reader’ to come into their class to read their favourite story, teachers shared their favourite story during a special reading session and children in KS2 visited children in EYFS and KS1 to share a story that they think they would enjoy. Children in Year 1 visited the John Harvard Library for a special Book Week story session and children in KS1 and KS2 share their own stories that they had written with their partner class.

Finally, on Friday children and adults were invited to dress up as their favourite book characters. Here is a snapshot of some of the characters you could see walking around the Cathedral School corridors…

Please see your child’s class blog for more details on what they got up to during book week.

Please remember that as a result of World Book Day, children have been given a £1 book token which they can swap for the special edition World Book Day books. There is a fantastic range of books this year and they can be found in all book shops and participating supermarkets.

Happy Reading!
