Class 1 have worked hard on their English skills this week and we have been looking at alliteration from our class text The Rainbow Bear. Children learnt that alliteration means when numerous words in the same sentence start with the same letter, and they also practiced some alliteration with their own names! Here are a few examples :
Grace is getting a game
Avani picks all the apples from Australia
Thomas is terrible at training tigers
Sienna is scared of the slithering snake
Taylie talks to Thomas
Class 1 had a brilliant World Book Day last Friday! Children looked fantastic in their costumes and outfits and we had lots of fun activities throughout the day. Please enjoy some of our photographs below.

Class 1 are really enjoying their new DT unit on weaving. Children had their first lesson last week and lots of them got on so well- even though it can be quite tricky! We started off with paper weaving, but will be doing different types of weaving across the weeks, such as string and straw.

This week in Maths, Class 1 have started learning to count in groups of 2s and 5s. In our lessons, children have been making groups of 2 and 5 and then counting how many are in each group. Children have had lots of practical lessons to support their understanding with this. Well done on all working so hard Class 1.

We’ve had a great last week of term in Class 1. Children have been working really hard with their writing, phonics and foundation subjects. Class 1 had a wonderful time celebrating History Day yesterday and we had a range of outfits in class- such as Victorian maids, Dodger, soldiers and many more. Well done on making such a great effort Class 1. Wishing you all a lovely half term break.
Stars of the week: Ella and Summer
We have really been trying hard with our handwriting this week. Lots of children are doing really well with remembering capital letters, finger spaces and full stops in sentences. In Class 1 we work hard on ensuring all our letters are sitting on the line and facing the correct way.
Stars of the week: Christine and Alyssa
This week in Science, we have been looking at the properties of materials. We looked at lots of different objects made from materials such as glass, rubber, wood, fabric and metal. We then used words like stretchy, see- through, waterproof, hard and soft to describe the properties. We had a very fun lesson!

This week in Computing, Class 1 have been looking at coding with beebots. In pairs, children discussed what instructions they would give to the Beebot, then pressed the correct buttons and entered the instructions. It was a very fun lesson, well done Class 1.
Dear Parents and Carers,
Your child will have a spelling test every Monday. Please make sure spelling books are brought in each Monday in preparation for this. Children will get a new set of spellings each week, these will be stuck into their spelling books. Please do not practice the spellings in the green books, these are just for the new words and for spelling tests.
I will upload the spelling words each week, incase children lose their spellings.
Any questions, please come and ask Mrs Copeland or Margaret.
