Summer 2 – Week 1

Stars of the Week: Kyann & Lyonna

This week, we went to see Matilda: The Musical at the Cambridge Theatre. We had a great time and got lots of ideas and inspiration for our own production. We really enjoyed watching all the actors sing and dance – the songs and choreography were amazing (especially with the swings!). It was great seeing all the actors as they were young too, so it gave us lots of confidence to take back.

Summer 1 – Week 6

Stars of the Week: Tallulah & Courtney

This week has been a busy week! We were invited to view the bell tower at Southwark Cathedral on Monday which was a fantastic experience. We learnt all about the different bells and even got to experience them ringing them. We were also very fortunate to get an insightful tour from the Dean.

As well as this, yesterday was History Day and we enjoyed dressing up in our costumes from various historical periods and learning some interesting facts.

Stars of the Week: Christina & Filip

This week, we have been busy working on our ‘ojo de dios’ or ‘eye of god’. These link into our topic about Mexican artist, Frida Kahlo. These are made by weaving a design out of yarn on a wooden cross. They are believed to protect those while they pray.

Stars of the Week: All of Class 6

Well done to everyone in Y6 for completing their SATs this week. They’ve worked so hard to get to this stage and make sure they were ready.

They’ve kept up the hard work throughout lessons, booster sessions and revision and it has really shown. On the day, they kept themselves calm and made sure they worked hard to complete their papers.

Stars of the Week: Bernice & Leo

This week, we have been looking at the work of Frida Kahlo. We discussed her use of colour and how she portrays herself in her portraits. We discussed what it means to be us and how our identify shapes us and then worked on drawing the things which make up our identify.

We will use these to create a frame around our portraits in the next few weeks.

Spring 2 – Week 4

Stars of the Week: Eayon & Annie

This week, we have been investigating light and how it travels in a straight line. We set up our own investigations to prove this and then went outside to look at shadows. We found out that our shadows keep the same shape as us because light travels in a straight line.
