Autumn 2 – Week 5

Stars of the Week: Sarah & Sebastian

This week, we finished our wonderful display Christmas display board. We used paint and tape to create the design on the houses and made the stars by cutting, folding and sticking them in place.

In RE, we explored the true meaning of Christmas and created our own adverts. We made storyboards to show what happens in them and what the overall message would be, making links to the true meaning of Christmas.

Autumn 2 – Week 1

Stars of the Week: Eliana & Stanley

This week, we have been busy starting our new topics. In geography, we have been learning different atlas skills in order to find human and physical features on a map. In science, we have been learning about how plants are adapted to survive in different habitats.

We have also started our new class text – The Last Bear – which is about a young girl who embarks on a journey which completely changes her life.

Autumn 1 – Week 7

Stars of the Week: Diane & Henry

This week, we went on a trip to Southwark Cathedral to see the Gaia installation. It was a wonderful experience and we enjoyed sitting and thinking about our planet.

We then went for a workshop about saving the planet and created some artwork which will be used as part of a display.

Autumn 1 – Week 6

Stars of the Week: Marwah & Ethan

This week, we had Science Day on Tuesday. We had a visitor from ‘Hands on Science’ who gave us a workshop about biodiversity. We learnt all about how important it is and how animals often have several sources of food to ensure survival. We discussed biodiversity in action and learnt about what role a cheetah plays in supporting biodiversity. We then cast our own cheetah paw prints using plaster.

Autumn 1 – Week 5

Stars of the Week: All of Class 6

A big well done to all of Class 6 for their excellent behaviour and teamwork on school journey to JCA. They worked hard to overcome all the challenges they faced, bonded as a class and pushed themselves to take on all the activities on offer.

Autumn 1 – Week 1

Stars of the Week: Anashe & Luca

This week, we have been busy settling ourselves back into school. Y6 buddies have been deployed and are already helping out around the school at lunchtimes – if you see them, be sure to say hello and thank you.

We  have been working on our place value this week and working on reading/writing large numbers over one million. We then used this to help us order and compare numbers, again using place value.
