Spring 2 Week 2

Stars of the Week: Nathan I and Orla

This week has been filled with lots of exciting Book Week activities. Class 1 focused on the story ‘The Snow Dragon’ and produced some great work this week. The story is all about how the Snow Dragon tries to stop the Fire Dragon from taking over the world! Children wrote some character and setting descriptions and will be writing some letters to the dragon today in English! There are lots more World Book Day photos to come!

In maths this week, we have been looking at measuring length and height. Children had a lesson on using rulers and measuring things in cm. At the end of the lesson, children also measured their partners foot on the carpet! They were reminded that it’s always important to start measuring from 0, otherwise it’s not accurate.

Spring 2 Week 1

Stars of the Week: Mila and Oscar

Class 1 have had a great week back after half term.

This week, we have started practicing counting in 2’s in Maths. Children began by using counters to count pairs and practiced making different amounts of pairs, such as 3 pairs of 2, 5 pairs of 2. This supported children with learning how to count in 2’s and how we miss a number out each time! Well done on your hard maths learning this week Class 1.

Spring 1 Week 6

Stars of the week: All of Class 1

All children have worked so hard this half term. Children have completed assessments, learnt about the History of transport, God’s creation and have put a lot of effort into their English and Maths. I am very proud of you all! Here are some photos from Safer Internet Day where we sorted things we should and shouldn’t share online, and some pictures from our trip to Southwark Cathedral last week.

Have a lovely half term!

Spring 1, Week 5

Stars of the week Abigail and Oscar

This week, Year One produced some incredible writing inspired by our class book, Traction Man. The children wrote detailed character descriptions of our superhero, using exciting adjectives to describe his appearance and personality. They make entertaining reading.

Well done Abigail and Oscar for your thoughtful descriptions. Your writing shows how much effort you made. Superb!

Spring 1 Week 4

Stars of the week: Leo and Scarlett

This week in computing we have been looking at programming beebots and learning how computers follow instructions. Children enjoyed giving the beebot instuctions such as forwards, backwards, left and right and watching it move! They also used the iPads as part of their learning in this lesson too!

Spring 1 Week 3

Stars of the week: Oscar and Julian

We have been looking at the history of transport this half term. We took a look at our whole school timeline to understand how timelines work. We matched some of the dates up to facts we have already learnt, such as when the first aircraft was invented in 1903!
