Although it’s been a short week back, Class 1 have done some excellent writing practice over the last couple of days. Children wrote some lovely recounts of their Easter holiday and worked in pairs discussing ways to improve their writing. Keep up the great work Class 1.
Welcome back! I hope you all had a lovely Easter break and are ready for the summer term.
Here are a few notices for parents and carers:
PE will now be on Wednesday afternoons, please bring PE kits in at the start of the week
Books will be changed once a week, starting from next week
Please try to arrive at school by 8.45 each morning to ensure your child walks in with the rest of the class and can complete their early morning work (especially with the phonics screening check coming up).
Children will be taking home weekly phonics homework in preparation for the phonics test in June. Please complete these sheets at home with your child, they do not need to be returned to school.
All children have worked so incredibly hard this term, I am very proud of them all.
I have uploaded some Easter phonics for children to complete over the break for the upcoming phonics screening check in June (children took booklets home on the last day).
Have a wonderful break & I look forward to seeing you all in the summer term.
I am very proud of all your hard work this week Class 1, you have all produced some great work in English and Maths and have really been trying with your phonics. You were all fantastic in our collective worship this week and spoke to clearly and confidently! Our assembly video will be uploaded later this afternoon 🙂
Class 1 have worked so hard this week during assessment week! During Geography, we went on a little spring walk to Redcross Gardens. We looked for signs of spring and found lots, including; daffodils, leaves on trees, flowers blossoming, frogspawn and lots more! Children produced some excellent work in their books once we returned to school. Well done on a great week everyone!
Class 1 are very excited about their upcoming collective worship next week! Please continue to support your child at home with learning their lines. Our collective worship song ‘Sing a Rainbow’ is also attached below, please practise singing this!
I look forward to seeing some of you on Tuesday morning!
Red and yellow and pink and green,
Purple and orange and blue,
I can sing a rainbow, sing a rainbow,
Sing a rainbow too.
Listen with your eyes,
Listen with your eyes and sing ev’rything you see.
You can sing a rainbow, sing a rainbow,
Sing along with me.
Red and yellow and pink and green,
Purple and orange and blue.
Now we can sing a rainbow, sing a rainbow,
Sing a rainbow too.
Red and yellow and pink and green,
Purple and orange and blue,
I can sing a rainbow, sing a rainbow,
Sing a rainbow too.
Listen with your eyes,
Listen with your eyes and sing ev’rything you see.
You can sing a rainbow, sing a rainbow,
Sing along with me.
Red and yellow and pink and green,
Purple and orange and blue.
Now we can sing a rainbow, sing a rainbow,
Sing a rainbow too.
Class 1 had a great time during book week and completed a wonderful recount of the day in English this week. Children also shared how much they enjoyed reading with our buddy class- year 5! Class 1 have worked very hard on their writing this week and children have been really trying with their capital letters, finger spaces and full stops to make perfect sentences!
