Class 1 have loved growing their cress and sunflowers this half term! Children regularly checked their plants each morning and made sure they had enough water! Well done on some excellent growing Class 1, you all did a fantastic job!
Class 1 had a very exciting afternoon yesterday, we went on a flower hunt to Redcross Gardens! Children spotted many different types of flowers and plants, such as daffodils, roses, sunflowers and some peppermint herbs! We are learning all about plants and flowers in Science this half term and the cress and sunflowers we planted are doing very well!
Class 1 have been working extremely hard on their phonics recently. This is in preparation for the Phonics Screening Check in June. We have been working on split digraphs and practicing finding different sounds in words so we can read them correctly. Keep up the great phonics work Class 1!
This week in Science, we have started some planting! We grew some cress seeds using cotton wool and a little bit of water. We carefully placed the seeds inside the cup, poured a little water on, then put them by the windowsill. We spoke about the different things which all plants need to grow. Class 1 are very excited to observe the changes of the cress, then in a couple of weeks we will be planting some sunflowers!
Welcome back! Class 1 have made a great start to the summer term. Children are enjoying lots of our new units of work, including plants in Science, map skills in Geography and learning about Claude Monet in Art. Children were very proud of their work from last half term, some of which went on display in the Key Stage One corridor. This is our lovely display below, big thank you to Margaret for making it so beautiful!
