Summer 1 – Week 2

Year 5 stars of the week: All of Class 5

This has been another busy but exciting week for Year 5. We have been enjoying taking part in Bikability Level 1 and 2 which has allowed us to practise our cycling skills in order to stay safe. Thank you Miss Fishwick for organising such a fantastic experience – it has been a cycling success!

Also this week, Year 5 have produced some fascinating projects on either what their family did during World War 2 or what happened to certain areas, buildings or landmarks in London during the Blitz.

It has been so interesting to learn about the remarkable people that Year 5 have in their families. We look forward to hearing everyone present their projects later on this week.

I really liked everybody’s powerpoint. I think it was a good idea because we get to learn more about World War 2 and how many people died for England to fight in the war. I liked learning about Germany and their planes, not Adolf Hitler! I thought everyone’s had a lot of useful information

I really liked the way Mary included at least one fact in each of her slides. They were very interesting! It was fun to create our projects and see our friends relatives experiences during WW2! 🙂

I really enjoyed doing these projects. I learnt a lot about buildings that were affected during the WW2!

I also had a blast looking at everybody’s creative projects. I also learnt a lot of information about their relatives and how it must have been to be in the WW2 .

My project was about my great grandmother and grandfather and how hard it was to be a land girl or fight in the war. Listening to short stories from my grandparents was the best part for me like when my great grandmother told me when she was in an air raid shelter she has a little blind dog called Harry and he ran away and my Nan couldn’t find him again. My Nan thought that he must’ve got killed in the war.

I really enjoyed making WWII presentations. It is very useful to explore history through PowerPoint and PowerPoint through history!
I didn’t have much information from family members, so it’s great to learn about the war in school.
I wonder why we learn about WWII before WWI!
    🙂

I loved looking over Emilia’s work. It’s fantastic! I have an even wider understanding about WWII and the horror of it. Her poor great-grandmother!:(
All the information sticks in my head. With some presentations, I forget everything.
    🙂
