Phonics Screening Check information

Dear class 1 parents/carers    phonics

Your child will be taking the phonics screening check during the week beginning 13th June 2016. The test is taken one at a time, lasting no longer than 5-6 minutes. Each child will be taken into a separate room to complete the test, where they will have to decode real and fake words from a booklet. The phonics screening check is designed to confirm whether pupils have learnt phonic decoding to an appropriate standard. It will identify pupils who need extra support to improve their decoding skills.

Every child in class 1 has made brilliant progress with their phonics so far this year. This has been reflected in their reading and writing. Please do continue to practice phonics at home with your child, particularly if your child takes home a phonics reading book.
