Autumn 1 – Week 6

Stars of the Week: Zane and Joyce

This week, Class 1 have worked very hard in maths. Their focus has been on addition and they learned how to write number sentences. They also mastered writing one digit per square in their maths books. Well done for all your hard work this week, Class 1!

In English, Class 1 finished The Tiger Who Came To Tea. They wrote their own reviews about the story and are going to write a blurb for their own versions in our next lesson.

Have a look at some of our displays.

Autumn 1 – Week 5

Stars of the Week: Romeo and Tireni

This week, Class 1 have learned about lots of fun things. In Science, they went on a senses walk to see what they could see, hear, feel, smell and even taste (although they just tasted the rain.) They went through the Peace Garden and came up with different things they could sense, which they then wrote into their books.

In Computing, Year 1 have practiced turning the laptops on, logging in and then logging off. They have worked very hard to type in everything before the laptop times out!

Autumn 1 – Week 4

Stars of the Week: Sadie and Ryan

This week, Class 1 have been learning about different animal types. They learned that the vertebrates are split into 5 groups: Mammals, Reptiles, Birds, Amphibians and Fish. They listened to a song about it (which has become a class favourite) and are able to split different animals into these 5 categories. Here is the song if you want to listen to it at home.

In English, Year 1 have been using adjectives to describe various things. They are able to write them into a sentence and can now think about different ways to describe nouns.

Autumn 1 – Week 3

Stars of the Week: Gabriel and Freiya

This week, Class 1 focused on ‘greater than’ or ‘less than’. They really considered which number would’ve been smaller or bigger using a number line. They had an opportunity to try lots of different activities which we did as a carousel. Everyone in Class 1 worked very hard throughout the whole lesson!

In art, class 1 have continued with their focus on Kandinsky. They experimented with different colours, using oil pastilles, to create fantastic mixes of colours.

Autumn 1 – Week 2

Stars of the Week: Lourdes and Elishua

This week, Class 1 have worked very hard on learning to count, not only up, but down too! They used number lines to work out what one more than a number would be and will be learning how to find one less.

In science, Class 1 have been labelling body parts that match the song Head, Shoulders, Knees and toes. They all used their sounds to work out which word they should write in each label. Great work this week, Year 1!
