Arithmetic – Reading analogue clocks
Below is an outline of how to develop skills in reading analogue clocks.
Clocks
- Look at a clock at home, identify the hour hand, the minute hand and the second hand.
- Learn how many seconds there are in one minute.
- Learn how many minutes there are in one hour.
- Learn how many hours there are in one day.
- Read the clock so you know when it is 1 o’clock, 2 o’clock, etc
- Read the clock so you know when it is half past 1, half past 2, etc
- Read the clock so you know when it is quarter past 1, half past 2, etc
Extension Challenge
- Read the clock so you know when it is quarter to 1, quarter to 2, etc
- Write a list of things you would do in the am and pm, e.g. At 2am I will be sleeping. At 2pm I will be in lessons at school.
The tests will be on Friday 11th March.
