Stars of the Week: Beatrice and Yvette
During DT week, class 2 learnt about castles and worked hard to create their own 3D castles by joining, folding and shaping paper. Beatrice and Yvette carried out their plans with lots of attention to detail. Not only did they work carefully on their own creations, they also shared their expertise by helping other members of the class.

Stars of the Week: India and Maidie
Maidie and India worked brilliantly together this week to create a clear set of repeating instructions in computing. We found out that computers need clear instructions like this to carry out tasks. Fantastic teamwork, well done!

Stars of the Week: Astrid and Luca
Well done to Astrid and Luca who put lots of thought and creativity into their poetry inspired by our class text, Tell Me a Dragon by Jackie Morris. They gathered lots of exciting adjectives and used description carefully to paint a picture with words.
Astrid’s poem:
My dragon has spiky hard wings that are fire lava wings.
My dragon has claws like a dinosaur that has a sharp crescent on its claws.
My dragon has a sparkling fiery tail.
My dragon has diamond eyes that are magnificent.
My dragon blows fire out of its mouth that looks like lava.
Luca’s poem:
My dragon has magnificently long lava claws and a drizzly lava tail.
My dragon is cunning with fear.
My dragon lives in a haunted castle.
My dragon has hairs like fire.
My dragon has spiky wings.
My dragon has a spirally tail.
My dragon has magnificently long talons like a hawk.
Stars of the Week: Sarah and Thomas
During World Faiths Week, Class 2 created prayers and artwork inspired by three of the fruits of friendship: peace, love and joy. The class explored Christian symbols and reflected on how they experience the fruits of friendship in their own lives. Well done to Sarah and Thomas who wrote some particularly thoughtful prayers.
Stars of the week: Sebastian and Selena
Well done to Class 2 who have made a great start to the year and have come back to school eager and ready to learn. Sebastian and Selena have set a great example this week by being prepared, listening carefully and trying their best in their learning.

Class 2 have written some summertime-inspired poetry this week to get in the holiday spirit!
We thought back on all the different styles of poetry we have learnt this year, including rhyming poems, shape poems, acrostic poems, haikus, ‘sound sandwich’ poems and riddles.
Everyone chose their favourite style of poetry, and some children even combined to styles, for example by making a shape acrostic poem. See if you can spot which type of poem each person wrote.

Class 2 really enjoyed sports week and made lots of writing inspired by their love of sports.
Here are a few great examples!
A setting description of a football match
At kick off Kane frantically got the ball. I saw him score a goal. Raindrops of confetti sped down in the gushing wind. The sound of the ball against the net was a gigantic thud on the almost broken net. Lumps of grass flew up in the windy breeze. At half time somebody dropped a hotdog on the pitch. Straight away Loftus-Cheek kicked the sausage up with so much enthusiasm the shouting crowd cheered louder than the loudest thunder. The penalties started. England got through to the next round. The crowd cheered like a rumbling volcano. The crowd cautiously watched the match. Sweat covered the pitch.

Football is coming home.

Over the high crossbar,
Ting, off the post!
Bang, in the net.
All the England players, go and celebrate.
Lots of happiness filled the air.
Loads of training before the next game.

In coral reefs, fish dart about.
Musical sounds coming from bubbles.
Moving ripples appear on the surface.
Inside bubbles rainbows disappear.
Never letting water in my mouth.

Stars of the Week: All of Class 2
Well done to all of class 2 for their fantastic learning and behaviour on our recent trip to the Tower of London. Everyone showed great curiosity when exploring the Tower and asked excellent questions.
We even met Princess Elizabeth, daughter of King Edward IV, who taught us how to be knights and showed us around the king’s home! Have a look at our photos below.

Stars of the Week: Kyann and Zacharie
Class 2 has been learning about the history of the Tower of London and finding out about how it was used in Tudor times. The class made clay Tudor Roses in art, which will soon be painted. Kyann and Zacharie worked with great care and attention to detail, learning how to join and shape the clay. The class also had to use their fraction skills, carefully sharing their clay into equal parts in order to make the rose design.
