Stars of the Week: Annabelle and Reggie
In English this week we have been writing our own Christmas carols. We first listened to carols such as ‘Away in a manger’ and ‘We three Kings’ and we picked out any poetic devices and discussed how these carols tell the narrative of the Nativity. We then started to write our own. We first thought of pairs of rhyming words to do with Christmas, such as ‘star’ and then thought of rhyming words such as ‘far’. The class also liked ‘baby’ and ‘crazy’. We thought of three topics for the verses, with the first verse on when Angel Gabriel told Mary that she was with child, the second verse on the journey to Bethlehem and the third verse being on the birth in the stable. We then wrote our own chorus and then tackled the verses. We will be publishing our carols for display!
